Hey

Sandi - WELL DONE!!!!!!! i am really pleased for you.  I to have got my taste buds back but am now realising I don't like all of the things I have cooked and eaten for so many years!!!!

Rach - I am really impressed well done my lovely.  This is probably the hardest  thing we will do for ooh about 2 days but we can all do it.

I am now on day 11 - tried the new patches and they have made my skin break out basically the same as the old, will have to go back to docs and discuss alternatives.

Am feeling pretty good about myself (I know big head) and am patting myself on the back mentally often.  Have had to watch the eating, started to snack a bit, took too long to lose 2 stone to chance it now, so am really concentrating on the food side.

Anyway off to have a chat with my ole mates on chat so take care everyone, Sandi and Rach - you are the bomb, keep it up.

Hi all,

Day 12 and have had a real problem with the patches, by 7 p.m. last night my arm was very swollen and red and just painful, so I had to remove the patch.

Decided to leave one off overnight and put it on in the morning.  Well got up this morning and did not feel too bad (expected a major rush of wanting nicotine when I got out of bed but it did not happen) so I though I would put a patch in my handbag to take to work just in case, and try to get through the day without one.  I did it, as yet I have not had to put a patch on, that is 27 hours patchless and 12 days cigarette less.

This may be the lull before the storm, it is possible I had enough nicotine in my system from the patches to last me for about 24 hours and tomorrow morning I will get up like a rabid bunny screaming for nicotine and threatening to throttle everyone.

Will have to wait and see.

Hubby has just done his 48 hours off the cigs and on the patches, he is doing really well I am very proud of him.

Going to get some sleep now so i can get up for chat at 1 a.m., may speak to you then.

Love n Hugs and thanks

Purty and patch free

Well done Min, it's great that your hubby is quiting as well, you'll be great support for one another and between the 2 of you, you'll both come out the other side "smoke free"  :)  :)

Keep up the great work.
Love Lesley xx

Rach

Hi all,

It's my 4th day. It's a little more difficult today.
I have tooth ache under yet another crown, so back on antibiotics.

Hydrenitis (sp) (this is swelling in skin tissue, related to bad skin). I will not even say where it's located.

I curled my hair, then gave my head a little shake...and something Popped in my neck, and now I can barely move my head side to side.

Did I mention this is my 4th day  :) I am wearing the patch, but removing it at night. My sweet hubby quit two days ago... (yes he did)  ;) and I'm very proud of him.

We both went to the market to shop! for suckers. that's all we bought LOL.
Passed the tobacco counter, arm in arm and I whispered to him, " don't look!...shhh keep walking).
oooooo we're going to do this, oh yes, yes we will.

love you all,
Rach

I am so proud of you my girlie (and hubby).  It is a magnificent test of strength to walk past a cigarette counter without actually buying anything so well done.

Sorry to hear about the unmentionable swelling wink wink and the rest of the probs you are having at the moment, hopefully they will clear soon and you will be back to your wonderful self.  MAKE SURE WHEN ANTIBIOTICS FINISHED YOU GO TO DENTIST.

Tell hubby I am proud of him also, I seem to spend more time worrying about how my hubby is doing quitting than I do worrying about myself.  Maybe a nurturing thing!!

Keep it up and what happened to the emails!!

Billye!
Purty Stinkers Club!! That's cool!... maybe be could get pink leather jackets and our club name on back.... (yeh, right)... not a bad idea?  8) ...we bad, we bad....that's right!

Mim, hows your man doing?
Is he really that mischievous that you worry over him? Tell him if he cheats, you'll know cause you're a founding member of the Purty Stickers Club, & with that comes the keen ability to sniff out all things foul! Yeah.... smoke can't hide from us now! We know that stench odor a mile away.  ;)
My daughter sniffs her Dad when she see him & comments, "I'm just checking Dad".

Tell your little one, to keep an eye out for Da, then tell hubby all eyes are on him..."so be good!"

I worry too about my hubby, every now & then, he says he wishes he could smoke. I sigh, and say..."no you don't". I tell him that repeatedly for about 15 seconds until his urge to smoke is gone. (I think he's gaining weight though...it's only been 3 days! for him) Then again, I maybe driving him batty.  ::)

Are you still without a patch???? God Bless you! It's too early for me I think...I'm a late bloomer any way. The patch is sooo expensive!!! but in the long run, I will have saved a bundle & hopefully reduce illness within my illnesses...

Had a vaso-vagal attack last night...my blood pressure dropped, pulse dropped...etc... it worried my hubby so that he wanted to take me to hospital...(he forgets) I put my legs up, head without a pillow & kept the cuff on till my pressure was back to normal... drank lots of water too, which always helps.... I have a doctor appointment in the AM so she can calibrate my cuff.

Did I mention today was a new day? and that I havne't smoked in 5 days.... (heheheheh)

I am so good.

Love you all!
Rach

LenV

Rachel,
You made me laugh out loud.  I could just see all of this group with their little pink jackets saying "We bad!  We bad!!" ;D

You know telling your children to watch out for both of you is a great idea.  There is a lot of guilt around doing what a child doesn't want you to do.  That's what stopped me.  My little boy(long ago) said "Mommy, please don't smoke.  People die when they smoke.  I need you."  Stopped me cold.  Every time I wanted to smoke, I'd think of what would happen to my child if I died.

Get your children to tattle on you to each other.  Guaranteed to stop you!!
After all...you all DO want to be members of the "Purty Stinkers Club" and wear little pink jackets doncha!! Doncha!!   ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Billye

Nana

Keep up the good work ladies; I'm very proud of your persistence and determination to stop smoking.  But more than that ...I want to see a picture of you in those pink jackets!!!  Keep on truckin'  Good thoughts coming your way, Nana

Good morning chairman of the purty stinkers club and the other pink jacketed 'we bad' ladies,

Was so pleased to read your messages, Rachel you should be so proud, you have done this, I am very proud of you.

We are all fine here, hubby doing ok, still off them and has not cheated, he is doing well on the patches and is better than I expected.

I am fine, the sore marks are getting better now, I am still not using anything and am getting by fine, am not getting humpy or anything, and can still be in the room with other people without them feeling the need to run for cover in fear of their lives.

Day 14 today and we have some of Harry's friends around for the afternoon / sleepover / all day tomorrow so watch the news for breaking story on mass murder in Blackheath, London,  'insane red head goes on rampany nicotine quest'.  Nah, we will survive this too.

Thanks for your support Quig, Nana, Billye, Lesleyjoy and all the other members who have taken the time to post their support for us.

Love n Hugs

Purty Stinking Pink Lady

LenV

Mim..
This makes me so happy and so proud.  I'm just so very proud of the whole group.  I just know you're going to all make it.  If you all make it thru the Super Bowl without any mass murders or weird funny ladies running naked thru the streets grabbing everyone's cigarette, I'll be ever so very proud!!!!

Sjogren's World has lots of  "Purty Ladies Stinking Purty"!! :D :D :D :D :D
