When husby and I quit, we wore buttons that said, "I'm a non-smoker". Welcome to the club!
You deserve to treat yourself from your saved money- I bought myself aquamarine earrings when I quit.
Whenever someone comments on them I tell them they are my non-smoking present.

Mim,
You are doing so great!  I wish I could get out in my garden again.  I tried to today and did got a little done before "Fred" decided he wanted to help.  Yeah, Sure he did!  Anyway, just being outside in this beautiful weather did me a world of good.

I am so proud of you and your hubby, leaving those stink sticks alone.  Now you will be able to smell all those purty flowers again.

Take care and keep on, keeping on.

Hugs, Pooh

My daughter is on her 6th week of no smoking and, as a mother, I'm proud and less worried about her.  She is a type I diabetic and this is the best news she could give me.  She is taking a pill made by Pfizer (chantix?) and it seems to have worked for her when other stuff did not.  This apparently has a 70% success rate.

Congrats to all ex and non-smokers.  Quit date: 11-13-89

Tell her she should be real proud of herself  ;).  I am now about 13 weeks down the line and it really does get easier each week.  Problem is I am spending about £5.00 a week on mints....  Oh well what I save on the cigarettes will now go on the dentist  :-\

Mim,
You made me grin...and then laugh out loud!   :D  Thanks so much.  I'm delirious that you are still stink weed free!  Keep it up.  Oh..how's hubbie doing on the regimen?  He still stinking purty?

Lucy,
Having our children cigarette free is a wonderful gift.  Wish I could get mine to do this.

Sure glad your daughter is winning the battle.

Mim-and all other quitters-

Yes, big time congrats are in order.  Never, never let your guard down.  Surprising after almost 20 years, I can still find a time when I "think" about it.  I am a quick learner though and do not forget how hard it was.

My daughter used something from Pfizer called "chantix" or "chantrix" and it has worked when other things have not.  I've heard it has a 7% success rate, but this is only second hand info.

Just thought I would check in....

I am still off the dreaded nicotine, have managed to put on weight but have started running with a friend, on the grass, and watching what I eat quite closely until I manage to lose it again, but apart from that am feeling pretty good.  Chest much better, and the dryness has eased somewhat.  The main thing is I can smell other people when they have been smoking, and as much as some people find this revolting I actually quite enjoy it, it seems to soothe the savage beast inside me.

Sandi,  how are you doing, you have been at it longer than me so you must be coming up to 6 months now, let me know whats happening.

Rach you still off them girlie, let me know please....

Thanks  ;)

Mim

Still stinkin purty for Billye and Grandad

Mim,

As someone who lost her beloved Dad to lung cancer one year ago tomorrow, I'm in tears sitting here, reading your post.  My tears are tears of gratitude that one more child, husband, sister, mother, brother, lover, or friend won't lose their loved one to this nasty habit.

Thank-you,  Tracy
