 ;D
Same here! Hubby too ! Though still using the patch, it's better than the smoke.
I didn't know my tongue (looking at it) had so many tiny taste buds. Food tastes the same sort of. I don't like my cooking though  :)
Weird... I've had a nose bleed ever since I've quit! Is that part of all this or Plaquenil???

I don't know how many days it's been (what month is this?)
not that it matters....WAHOOOOO! I still stink purty.

Pooh

Mim & Rach,
Woo Hoo you two!   I knew you could do it, and I hope you are feeling better also.

Rach, I don't know about the bleeding in your nose.  I would check it out with your doctor.  I am on Plaq, but haven't noticed any bleeding with it.  I do however, have bleeding from time to time, and yes, my rheumy tells me it's from the SJS.  But I would still have it checked out.  No bleeding should be ignored.

Congratulations you two, you are doing so great.

Hugs, Pooh

boy oh boy!!

Thank you Billye, Pooh & Linda! and I'm not forgetting that gal Mim!

I'm proud of all of us. You guys deserve a star for your crowns! And I'm sure one day you'll get those.

I can't believe all that's happened here, my gosh! I haven't had time to read all the posts.
You know, i wish I could hug everyone. It's hard to give time to every post, sometimes hard to respond to many who just need someone to listen & validate....
I wish I could hug all of you.... I love you guys for the care you show, not just me, but everyone here. Your building bridges, and what a wonderful thing you've done.

It makes me so happy to see you all doing so well with leaving the butts alone.  I know first hand how nice you all smell since leaving them behind.  I know how different my home smelled when my hubby quit.  It's been 11 yrs. since he quit and not until a friend of ours stepped in the front door for a moment with a cigarette did hubby realize how different the house smells.  It was 20 degrees out, but when our friend left he opened a window and the garage door to the kitchen.  Then went out in the garage and turned the fan on for about 15 minutes.  He is still telling people how amazed he was at the smell from just one cigarette.

I am so proud of you all for your accomplishment.  I hope you can continue to leave the stink sticks alone.  Keep up the great work.  ;D

Hugs, Pooh

Allthough this has nothing to do with the group..........I'll get on the happy bandwagon as my daughter is on her 12th day of no smoking.  She is using the new medicine from Pfizer and seems to be doing well.  She has, tried before, of course and succeeded for awhile.  I think each time she tried it set her up for the final--let's hope this is it.  She has Type I diabetes and I know how horrible it is for her to smoke.

I have been "off cigs" since 11-13-89.  Congrats to all.  I know how hard it is.

Lucy,
Congrats to you and lots of group hugs for your daughter.  I'm glad to hear she is working hard on this issue.  She'll be glad she did when she finally can say "I quit smoking".  Tell her she can be part of the "Purty Stinkers".   ;) :D :D

Kudos and congratulations! I quit smoking 29 years ago- it was the hardest habit I ever stopped, and I had some heavy-duty ones. What helped me: sugarless gum, toothpicks, carrot sticks, (oral gratification) plenty of water and exercise.
I have no sense of smell but cigarette smoke still sickens me.
Be strong and be proud!!!!!

Okay 10 weeks today and the benefits I have experienced:

Can go upstairs without huffing and puffing.

Can get washing from linen basket and load washing machine without huffing and puffing.

Mr car smells like a car not an ashtray.

I don't spend my life stinking of smoke.

My cooking is not all that or my taste buds have changed/woken up.

My skin is better.

My eyes look better?????

My purse is FULLER!!!!

We got a skip yesterday and cleared the garden:

It took half the time, as we were not stopping every half hour for a cigarette break, I did not get out of breathe and managed to work for about 5 hours, and chest wise/breathing wise I felt fine afterwards.

This last thing I mentioned about the garden really surprised me, in the past I have dreaded things like this, knowing I would be suffering with my chest and sweating etc, NONE OF THAT, I was so pleased it has made me even more determined to carry on with the I don' smoke thank you very much, as it has hubby also.

So just a quick update that this quitting really works and does actually make your life better, as much as I hate to admit it!!!!!!

MimĀ  ;)

Still a purty stinker in the U.K.

LenV

Oh Gosh Mim..you gave me tears again this morning.  But happy tears.  I am so very proud of you and of all of this group for supporting you.

So now we are gonna have a "Purty Stinker's" group in the UK??!!!  Wow!  Grandpa's going international.  Keep it going Mim.  We love it!! :D :D :D
