Scottie, What a feat to have accomplised! Count my vote as YES!!!

Spent the day inside watching hubby mow the hay in the big meadow over from our home. Admired at a distance the little waterfalls I made a few years back in the creek. The wildlife seemed quiet... not sure whether it was tractor noise or possibly wildlife has a tendency to also 'head for the shade' here on very hot days.

Did drive down at dusk to smell the freshly mowed hay; just could not let that pleasure slip by me. The trip across the footbridge allowed me the joy of hearing the water cascading over my little water falls!

Bucky, many thanks for 'heading up' this thread.   :-*   Joy

I spent the day in the city today, so my 10 minutes (or a bit more) was a walk on a paved sidewalk with traffic at my side...quite unusual for me, being a country girl, but enjoyable as a bit of variety.
Beautiful sunny day, warm where there was no breeze, but the winds blowing in off the Bay of Fundy were downright chilly! Walking in a bustling city, with a view of crashing waves and distant shores, is really an experience!

Scottie...if I had managed a 4 mile walk, I'd consider my whole month's commitment accomplished!  :D

Yes, Kathyx, they are neutral calories if eaten while walking. Also, did you know that if you eat a broken cookie it's OK because all of the calories have leaked out. Likewise, if you eat something on your birthday it doesn't count. I know a lot of good rules for eating.

Today I spent the morning out in the garden planting beets and chard seeds, and also some more columbine and a few cerinthe. It was a beautiful day to be outside here, warm (but not too warm) and sunny, with a nice breeze.

Day 4

Happy Saturday to everyone.   ;D  Today is Day 4 of our 30 day commitment to being outside for at least 10 minutes each day.

To date, we have 37 members who are participating in our little adventure.  Harlin, of course you can join in - we'd love to have you along.  Anyone else just now reading these posts is welcome to join too.  I've set my goal for 50 members to have joined us by the time our 30 days is over.  I know, some times 30 days sounds like a long time, however . . . it will go by in a flash!

Saturday is the only day I can sleep in, so this morning, I did!!   ;D  Ahhhhh, felt good!  For my 10 minutes today, I bundled up and went outside and walked around the property.  Today here in Illinois, it is windy, windy, windy and only 44 degrees out right now!!   :o  I had to wear my winter coat, gloves, and ear muffs.  A couple of times I thought the wind was going to knock me over!!   :o  I could hear the trees creaking as they were being whipped back and forth.  Yep, my bones sometimes sound like that too with their creaking.   ;)

I walked to this one spot in the yard that I've seen a rabbit in before - but, no rabbit today.  I don't even recall seeing any birds today.  I could hear one or two in the woods, but no chorus of birds this morning like I've heard the last few days.

I hope everyone has a great Saturday.  I'm only doing laundry and dishes today and I'm calling it good.   ;D

Good morning and Happy Saturday to you too Bucky and to all. Wow, it is really cold where your at right now, I have the opposite end of the spectrum here in Northern Cali, it's probably going to be about 80 degrees again today and the birds wake us up chirping at the feeders around 5:30 am so I've been up for awhile but haven't stepped out yet. I will be going to the doc's in a few to get my shot for my alopecia but will spend the afternoon out and about shopping with the family after that, does shopping count? lol  I will end up in the garden at some point today if shopping doesn't count  ;D

Have a great day all!

Hi  :)

I go singing every Saturday. Usually I get a lift but today I had to take the car. I parked right at the far end of the car park so it took me about 5 minutes to walk to the building and five minutes to walk back after a good sing! That, however, was it for the day. There's a bitter wind blowing here!

Take care - Scottie  :)

Hi everyone

It's been very cold and windy here in West Yorkshire today. My 10 minutes outside have been walking from the car to the hairdressers, and walking to and fro in the garden, hanging washing out. I'm wrecked now!

We've had a dreary, chilly, threatening to rain type day, but I was able to enjoy my tea on the deck, and stroll through the yard a bit, checking on the flower beds and even pulled a few little "interlopers". The neighbours are preparing to replace their roof after the skies clear, and they were piling firewood, too, so I had something to watch while I relaxed.

Work does fascinate me, I really can sit and watch it for hours!

Goodness, goodness, where has this day gone?  Today was a 'hurry up' day on the farm.

What is a 'hurry up' day a farm? It is a day when a farmer has a big meadow of hay that is ready to rake just after all the morning dew has dried off and you go like 'mad' to rake and baler tractor makes it into big rolls and another tractor person hauls it and places it in hay barns before evening dew begins to fall.

My beloved three cats and I watched from a distance for quite some time! That's were the day went for me, sitting in the shade of the ole' maple tree. :)

Today was another beautiful day in the Pacific Northwest, sunny, warm and dry, light breeze. I spent most of the day outside in the garden or on the deck. My husband mucked out the pond/waterfall, washed and replaced the stones, and refilled it with water for the season, and I set up the smaller water feature in our shade garden - a big blue ceramic basin with a bamboo drip. If I can still move tomorrow I'll wash off the lawn chairs and continue weeding.

We ate dinner on the deck, and could hear all our neighbors on their decks as well. It reminded me of being in Kyoto Japan years ago, eating on the verandah of one restaurant or another lining the banks of the Kamo River, and hearing people on the other verandahs talking softly. As the sun went down the fireflies came out, paper lanterns were lit, and it felt so festive. Nothing like eating outside on a warm evening.

Day 5

Happy Sunday to everyone.   ;D  Today is Day 5 of our 30 day commitment to being outside for at least 10 minutes each day.

Sunday mornings are busy here getting ready for church, but I did make it outside for my 10 minutes.    The sun is shining brightly, the birds are all sweetly singing, woody woodpecker is drilling in a tree, the deer are grazing in the field, the squirrels are running around in the trees.  Ahhhhh . . . . what a good morning!   ;D   Another bright spot to my morning . . . my husband told me as I was walking out the door for my 10 minutes . . . "honey, today's Mother's Day - I'm going to go to church with you and Michael".  Woohoo!!  He hasn't gone in a very long time and this makes me very happy.  ;D   ;D

May today be a wonderful day for you . . . get outside, enjoy nature.

Happy Mother's Day to all our Mothers, Grandmothers, and Great Grandmothers.   ;D

"Many of us have seen little children take their first step in their quest to walk.  We watch them wobble and fall so many times, yet, they are not discouraged from trying again.  In the end, they master the art of walking.  You might fall many times in accomplishing your dreams, but don't give up or give in.  I see success in the air!"        Andrew Effiong

I'm late but I'm in if it's not too late.  Can I double the time to make up for the lost days?

Your thought for today is so powerful. I'm going to steal it and paste it whe I can see it every day. It might just give me the inspiration I need!

Today, as the family had a lie in, I took myself outside, and weeded the border for ten minutes. Wht a difference ten minutes can make. There's a lot more to do, but I'm really pleased I made a start.

Hello everyone! Well, I'm getting a late start posting my outings in our "10 minute" adventure. Darn that brain fog!!! I have been outside everyday last week watering my plants in the back and front yards. Actually it's been more like 30 minutes by the time I'm finished. I really have enjoyed being outside. I love the spring time! Everythings turning green. The flowers are blooming. The birds are chirping. And it's finally warm enough to be outside for a while. We have a family of doves nesting in a bush in the backyard. It's fun to just watch them tend to their brood. It's been in the upper 70's to low 80's everyday here except for today (Sunday). We had a cold front roll thru last night. It's a lazy hazy day today. The temperature is in the mid 60s and feels like it could rain at any moment (great sleeping weather). Yesterday my mother and I went to our local mall for some shoe shopping therapy. I bet we tried on 75 pairs to sandals together (poor sales person). We had a blast!! We both found a pair that we were pleased with. I took her to lunch afterwards for an early mother's day outing. It was great to get out and enjoy some good conversation with my mom. It was nice to be able to forget about this disease raging thru my body even if it was for only a little while. That little trip wore me out but it was totally worth it. I spent the remainder of the day resting. Today my husband and kids went to church. I've been so tired lately that getting up early for church hasn't been in the cards for me. It was great to see my church family. After church my family took me out to eat brunch at one of our favorite restaraunts. My mother and stepfather went with us. The food was great and it was nice to be with family on such a special day. I want to wish everyone "Happy Mother's Day"! I hope you are having a great one!!!
