Well, I am thankful for having a warm house (didn't lose elec.), a stocked refridgerator/medicine cabinet, kitty companionship and fairly good health. It is -12 right now in Eastern Iowa with chill factor around -20 to -25. The high if we are lucky will be 1 to 10 all this week but at least above zero.

A Happy Healthy 2010 to Everyone!

I guess I should quit my b**chin about our weather....at least sun is out today 8), although a chilly 40-50 degrees :P, supposed to be like this all week...Listening to all of you, I am so thankful I live in FL :)

I think if I lived up north I would be like the tin man from oz without his oil can,LOL!

Stay warm my friends...

HI Pisces,

I'm so glad to hear that your electricity never went out, and wow, that is so cold!  Super burrrrrrrrrrr.............

I'm sorry if I sounded like I was whining!  I am a bit  ::), but the doctor is messing with my thyroid meds, and my body temperature is hovering around 96 degrees (and drops during the night), and I'm a bit cranky with this mess too.  I know, wha, wha, wha!  ;) :)

IT'S COLD OUTSIDE! DON'T KNOW WHAT THE TEMP. IS I JUST KNOW COAT, GLOVES AND HAT ARE IN ORDER! STILL NO SNOW THOUGH!

harlin

West Virginia was a cold 12 degrees this morning and it is still only about 17. Husband walked son's dogs at 8 and wind chill was probably zero. I'd like some sun please. We had about an inch of snow over nite and a winter storm warning is in effect until Sunday. Burr better turn on the fireplace and snuggle in. :D

Patze: Sorry the dr is messing around with your thyroid med.  Gosh your hormones get out of wack and you end up feeling more miserable.  We Soggies are dry enough but when TSH gets low we get drier (if that is possible) hair, skin, more fatigue and paleness and of course - feel the cold more. Hope he gets it regulated quick!

It is Zero for a high here today but I do feel sorry for the folks down South as they are just not used to it being as cold as it has been lately. Snow in TX and 35 degrees in AZ - to me should be unheard of. I don't think TX even has equipment to handle snow!

My elec along with the heat (elec start) was out for 2 days a couple years ago. Thankfully it was not durn freezing cold just very very icy out.  And thankfully the temp in the house only dipped to 48 so no frozen pipes. Ice is the worse when it gets on those power lines.

What a Mama bear won't do for her cub . . . . . we have a looonnnggg driveway with an open field next to it.  We've got 8-10" of snow.  I walked down to the mailbox to get the mail and tried to make a "path" so our son could get back to the house after school without me getting the car out (didn't want to get stuck in the driveway).  He didn't wear boots to school today - seems there is just not enough room in their school lockers to accommodate books, bookbag, coat AND boots.  I tried shuffling sideways to make a path - that wasn't working and it would be dark by the time I finally made it back to the house.   ::)  LOL  So, I walk back to the house and get the shovel.  Hmmm, new shovel - never seen this one before (when the boys go shopping alone, you never know what they will buy!!   ::)).  Walk back down to the road and shovel a path back to the house for our son.  Ugh . . . got my workout today (it's 18 degrees out, with windchill it feels like 5)!!!  (Hey, nice shovel . . LOL)  So, now son has a pathway back to the house and he won't get snow up to his calves and in his shoes.  That is . . . if it doesn't drift in again with the wind blowing and it's another two hours before he gets home!!   :o  Oh well . . . I tried.   ;D

My Dad plows snow in the winter . . . do you think he would come and plow his daughter's driveway??   NOOOOOOOOOOOO . . . okay, so he lives 500 miles away - that could be the reason!!  LOL   ;D

Update:  -15  Yes minus 15 this morning in Eastern Iowa.
I was working overtime this week so Have to go to grocery store but at -15, will wait until tomorrow when it will get at least a Plus 15 by noon.
We got a saying in Iowa "if you don't like the weather, wait awhile and it will change".

Ohiocat

Hmmm  we have the same saying in Ohio about the weather.

But all i know, is that I am tired of winter all ready.   I have had to shovel snow every day this week and on the last two days, twice a day.   (Not all the days was a lot of snow, but it needed shovel any ways)   Does not help with me feeling a bit under the weather.

The extra work has made me more short of breath.  And since I am also fighting a cold; it does not help that either!

Only 3 more months before spring,   sigh.

Hi Ohiocat,

I sure hope that you feel better soon!

Ah, it's only three more months, you can do it (I'm rooting for you!)!

RobinBat - our bear cub is 14, and yes, he did appreciate having a clear path from the road to the house.   :D

Pisces24 - we have that same saying here in IL too.

Ohiocat -  shoveling snow can be a strenuous job, especially if it's the wet, heavy snow.   Can you draft another family member to do the shoveling??  Hope you feel better from your cold.

GOT 'CABIN FEVER'!!!!........................... :(

Hey Bucky and Other Interested Persons,   How many steps from your door to the mailbox? Counted as I went today in +15 degree temp... 75 steps. Wonder how many have it delivered to your door????

8) Boy, did I need sunglasses for my trip! Funny, but felt our home was much warmer when I came back in.

Are we allowed to say we are BORED on Sjoggie site????????? Am writing this sitting on my exercise ball.  Second week that not able to make it to Wellness Ctr. I am getting stiffer by the day...

Bucky

Joy - awwww,  cabin fever already???  I guess I  love hibernating in my cabin - I'm a home body.

I have never owned an exercise ball, but I don't think you are just suppose to sit on it!!  LOL  Too bad we don't have a live webcam type site and we could have a group exercise . . . well, maybe not.  LOL

As I sit here at the computer I am doing some arm extensions up, back to shoulders, out to side exercises . . . while listening to all my bones as they snap, crackle and pop!!   :o  They seem to be more noisy this winter than I remember in the past.

I just asked hubby how far it is from the house to the mailbox and he said 400 ft. - a nice little stroll.   :D

Hang in there Joy . . . you'll get to travel out soon.

Ok, sort of feel bad complaining about our weather reading your posts...our high today was 38 degrees... most of day low 30's and drizzling...wouldnt be bad if I was indoors and warm...but no I had to be outside doing good...I belong to a Breast Cancer Awareness group and we were in a chili cookoff today. So at 7:15 am I was out setting up the booth and helping cook chili! I had stockings, heavy socks, long johns, jeans, turtleneck, pullover, sweader, winter coat and scarf and gloves on and still my toes, and fingers were frozen and numb! Had to keep going over to the fire and warming up. We did win the best decorated booth and had great fun, but it would have been so much more fun at 60 degrees or warmer! If you want to see pictures check out our website I am sure they will be posted soon. www.bikersraisingawareness.org
So was feeling cold and then read your posts....still was cold...doesent matter if not as cold as you, I was cold... :(
Hope all are home and feeling warmer now :)
Tomorrow have to pack up holiday decorations, put off long enough...
