A quick return to say hello

Hello again everyone.  I have not been on for quite a while as my life seems to be a round of going up
to London hospital with husband for him to have his chemo.  He is on Folfox for anyone out there who
is up on these things.  So far he is tolerating it fairly well, but very exhausted and a few odd side effects.
However, we just keep saying as long as it works its worth it.
Anyway, I ran out of prednisilone so popped in to see a rheumy at my husband's hospital.  He opened with the
statement that he didn't know anything about Sjogren's, which didn't help, but did say that I should start my
methotrexate as soon as possible.  So,  today is the day.  I am absolutely worn out, had to have tooth out
last week due to abscess, but cannot complain as compared to my husband's problems in recent months it just
seems like nothing.
Anyway, please don't let me have any nasty side effects from the MTX - just can't fit it in.
Nice to see everyone on here still chatting away.

Hi Uker

It's good to see you again. The rheumy doesn't sound too great but I'd rather deal with someone honest enough to admit what they don't know (as long as they're willing to learn) rather than someone who professes to know it all - and doesn't.

Good luck with the traetment. keep us posted. I hope your hubby's doing OK too.

Take care - Scottie  :)

Thank you everyone for your responses.  As ever much valued.  Had first round of MTX on Sunday and Folic Acid
yesterday.  So far, no side effects at all.  Fingers crossed.
Just to make you smile,  the tooth I had to have out last week is almost at the front, so as my dentist can't
do a permanent fix at the moment (just don't have time or opportunity) he has made me a pretend tooth
which is kept in by sticking it to the tooth next to it. Can't bite on it or anything.  He did warn me it will fall out every couple of weeks and will have to be stuck in again.  I am willing to bet money on it falling out (a) just as I get on a train to
go to London hospital so hubby will be visited by a toothless witch (b) at the beginning of a holiday weekend when the dentist is away for three days or (c) I will bite on it by mistake, then swallow it.

LOL Uker... your tooth predictions had me cracking up!  My mom has veneers on her front top teeth and at least once a year every year on a holiday weekend or when we're out of town it comes off.  Usually when we are out of town.  It's like they plot against her.  I feel bad for her... but I must admit its happened on cue so frequently it's comical.

I'm glad the methotrexate is going okay so far!  Take care!

Well, if the scenario is choice, "C" then rest assured it will come out the other end.  (Hopefully!)  At least it won't be lost!

A silver lining to every cloud??

Hi

I have veneers on 4 teeth at the front. One fell off during my journey to the States recently. Well - I know there's a standing joke about Brits and bad teeth so the first thing I did after I met my son was to get him to drive me to a store that sold super glue.

I stuck the veneer back on and it's worked a treat. it's still there.    ;D

Take care - Scottie  :)
