Do you drink alcohol?

I think it's generally thought that alcohol is not a good idea when we have Sjogrens.   On the other hand, I've seen articles saying alcohol can inhibit some of the activity of autoimmune disease.

I drink a glass or two of wine most weekends, no alcohol at all during the week.   I don't have the impression the small amount I drink makes much difference to any of my symptoms.
Dry eyes (MGD), nose, mouth, occasional labyrinthitis,  dry skin , mouth ulcers, constant but fluctuating fatigue, IBS.  Blood tests and Schirmers negative,no Sjogrens dx yet.   Omega 3 algal oil, multivitamins, Evolve eye drops, Xailin eye ointment,  moisturiser (Instituto Espanol 10% urea).

Hi  :)

I also drink alcohol. (mostly weekends) I must admit I get to sleep quicker if I've had some. It masks a degree of pain.
I'll be having a drink tomorrow because it will be my 49th wedding anniversary and I know that hubby has bough a Malt Whisky to celebrate.

Take care - Scottie  :)

Oh, Happy Anniversary and Valentines Day!   How romantic, Scottie.   And do enjoy your wee dram!

Happy Anniversary, Scottie and Hubby! A toast to many more years!

I've never been much of a drinker, even before Sjogren's. The occasional toast would be about my limit! Even then, I'd toast with non-alcoholic alternatives if available.

Now, My reasoning would include not combining alcohol with my meds. Methotrexate, in particular, isn't a good combination with spirits of any kind.

Congratulations Scottie. Enjoy the weekend.

I have in the distant past had an occasional drink. Hubby had Celiac and couldn't drink without suffering and I never really enjoyed drinking. Last drink I had was some wine at my youngest sons wedding in 2002. I have stayed aways from alcohol as relative on my moms side seemed to have a lot of problems with alcohol...not only that I am addicted to Mt. Dew so figure that is as strong as I need. Also, with all the meds I have been on all these years alcohol could cause me problems to mix with my meds.

We all have to make our decisions about alcohol, especially with chronic illness. Also, it cost a lot and I am very tight. ;D Have a good weekend folks. meirish

VERY VERY little.
But the other day was our anniversary. I had one glass of wine. Felt like crud. I'm in my sixties. It might be time to change that very very little to NO.
SLE, Sj.  Syndrome, IC, Atypical Trigeminal Neuralgia, ITP (low platelets)... Various meds and lots of vitamins. Trying to eat healthy; seems to help a little.
