Tyrvaya Nasal Spray is new on the market. It is a nasal spray for dry eyes, weird as it sounds. My DIL who is an optometrist prescribed it for her hubby (my son) who has dry eyes but I don't think he ever has been tested for Sjogrens. He has Celiac disease as does his 14 year old son (since age 3 or so) and as did his dad, my deceased husband. Sooo, he doesn't have bad dryness other places but the eyes are an ongoing problems that wanes and ebbs.

He just got back from deer hunting out west so I am hoping he will start using the spray when he recovers from the trip. Be anxious to hear how this works. With my Sjogrens I have a very dry nose and have to use some other nasal sprays sparingly so I don't care to add another spray. I get along well with my Restasis. I have been on it since 2004...shortly after they came out.

My DIL was just out of Optometry school and I was her first Sjogrens patient. I My DIL started me on it right away when my dryness started. I probably had Sjogrens for 30+ years prior to being diagnosed and I got the dry eyes about one month after diagnosis.

My eyes were a little miserable at the beginning but have responded well to the Restasis. I have been able to drop down to using the drops every other day or so which cuts down on the expense. If I use Restasis every day now my eyes will get sore...go figure. If I go too many days without the drops my eyes will tell me it is time to use my Restasis. Good luck all and please inform us how the spray works if you use it. meirish

Apparently no one has been on this new drug yet. May take time to get out to the eye docs. meirish

I just got a sample from the optometrist on Friday and haven't started using it yet. I thought the chemical name sounded familiar. It is varenicline, the same medication that is used for smoking cessation!! I am not sold on trying this since it's so new. I'll let you know if I decide to give it a try. I have allergies and stuffiness, so I don't know if this would be a good fit for me.

Sjogrens and RA,  Morphea (skin scleroderma), Hashimoto's,
Nexium, synthroid, HRT, plaquenil,  Restasis, Maxi-tears supplement, L-glutathionne, CoQ10, folate, trintillex,  multi vitamin. lisinopril.

Will be anxious to hear how you do with this drug. It is hard to start another nasal spray when you already suffer from stuffiness. I have this also and have to use Astelin as a last resort some nights or I hardly get any sleep. Who knows, maybe it will help with the stuffiness. Good luck and let us know how this goes if you start it. meirish

Well, hope that you can get some help from this. I know that the drug salesmen or whomever has to give the optometrists sample so maybe ask your eye doc if he has gotten any yet. Sometimes we have to be a little aggressive. Right!! Take care. meirish
