Hi, everyone.  This post is especially for my chat friends.  I was scheduled to have a cervical decompression and fusion of C2 thru C7 on Monday.  This will leave me with a 70% loss of neck mobility in the future.  My spinal cord is being crushed now and if I don't do anything soon, I will become paraplegic.  Anyone who has had two or more cervical vertebrae fused knows what I am talking about.  Mine is 6!  I passed all my blood work and other pre-ops and was ready to go.

However, I took my COVID Test this morning at the hospital and it came back positive.  I feel lfine since I have had my vaccinations and two booster shots.  It might be a false positive. but my neurosurgeon does not want to take a chance since I have Sjogren's and my recovery time is long and my chances of infection is 15%.  His office will call me on Monday with a new date, which might be six weeks out.

See you on Chat this Thursday, friends.  Judie P.

I'm not on Chat, but am very sorry to hear about the postponement of your operation.   However it's reassuring that the medical team are taking every precaution to keep you safe.   I hope you recover from Covid quickly, and don't have too long a wait for the surgery you need.

So sorry to hear this, Judie, I know ow much effort you've put into preparation and what a difficult decision  it was in the first place. I hope you test negative very quickly and can be rescheduled before any further issues present themselves.
As we said in chat, we are all keeping you in our positive thoughts!

Sorry to hear surgery is postponed. I know what it is like to get psyched up for a spinal surgery. Takes a lot of self talk getting ready. At least you will have this covid behind you....what more can a person say about these darned covid tests.

I have had so many covid tests with 2 surgeries this year plus many other things that made the clinic think I needed it plus living in senior living..they test us a lot around here especially if we sat at lunch next to someone that ended up with covid. The money the insurance companies are making off of these tests is really unbelievable.

Take dcare and rest up. Good luck.  meirish

Thanks for your reply posts.  My surgery is being scheduled on Wednesday, June 8.  I do want to emphasize something.  I have had my vaccination and two boosters (Pfizer).  I am very grateful that I did it because I have had no symptoms with COVID (tested positive last Saturday).  I am not any more fatigued than before (with Sjogrens).  Thanks again.  Judie P.
