We had purchased some Shrimp Cocktail sauce from the store. I did not think much about it when I opened it for my shrimp tonight. (I had been making my own sauce so this was going to be a treat). With my first bite my mouth started to burn at 6 shrimp in I realized that it was something in the sauce. I read the bottle and it had peppers in it.

I now read labels more carefully

That doesn't make a person very happy does it? I have had this happen to me also. I also think that there are times my mouth is more sensitive than others. Sometimes even catsup can feel like it has more of a bite than normal.

I am on a shrimp kick lately cause they have been on sale----the cooked ones. I like the red shrimp sauce with horseradish. As a sidelight- our neighbor out in the country grew horseradish and would make his own horseradish sauce. He would bring me some and I could freeze the extra until I needed it. That was so much better than the store bought. I miss my earlier life when I had more fun!!!! Irish

My ocular rosacea gets much worse when I eat spicy peppers.  Mild are okay, though.  I hear you, Irish - moderation in all things is not a recipe for fun.
