You all are going to think I'm crazy after this post.  A few weeks ago I started hearing a purring noise in the middle of the night on my bed.  It freaked me out so bad I googled creatures that purr (other than cats).  There's a spider that purrs, so I washed all my bedding and cleaned and never found a spider.  Then I looked up hearing issues and found out some people hear a purring sound in there ears and it's not that uncommon.  I have to say it's the weirdest experience to wake to this sound and it still sounds like it's coming from my blankets and why does it happen only in the middle of the night when I'm sleeping?  How can this be a hearing issue when it sounds so real and it's so specific when it happens?  I feel like a freak about this and don't feel like I can talk about it to anyone.  I guess I should see a hearing doctor.

Well...glad to know you had no spider in your bed.
I had never heard of this before.......I get a high pitched ringing in my ear.
It starts very low...gets high and then recedes and goes away. I have it
on and off.

If you see an ENT about this, let us know what it is.

Thanks for replying Shelly.  I'm calmer now because I'm sure it's tinnitus.  The purring matches my heartbeat and that's one of the symptoms that match it to tinnitus.  I can't believe how scared I was  before I figured it out though.  It sounds so real, as if a cat is right in front of me purring.  Well I will talk to my Dr. about it next time but I don't think there's much we can do about it.

That sure is a different one.  My first thought was a ghost of a cat but that's not helpful is it.
