Weather Again!

We just got 9 inches of snow here in Eastern Iowa.
Travel is not advised and I have not even heard a car or snowplow. We had rain prior to the snow so there is an ice buildup on the trees, roads, etc. Thankfully the power is still working fine though the cable satellite is out.

Feel sorry for folks into the SuperBowl. No pizza delivery!  ;)

Oh Pisces, and it is just February 1!

Here, of course, some trees are already budding out...and 28 more days and we'll have daffodils and lots more signs of Spring.

The fat robins have been hunting worms in our yard for weeks already.

Well, snow IS beautiful.  And Iowa always needs the moisture, right?  Well almost.

My husband's family is from Iowa, but we always go in the late Spring, or summer.

Then the weather is quite different.

Hang on.

Man, this weather is taking its toll on me.  Another foot of snow with the same on its way, high winds, freezing temperatures.  Yesterday was sunny and warm, around the freezing point.  Up and down like a rollercoaster!

Oh dear, NOW we have an ice sandwich!

Ice on the bottom, snow in between, and ice on the top.

And all amounts to no more than an inch and a half.

But it's so cold, it won't melt.  And there is almost snow clearing....so side streets will stay icy for days and days and day.

Schools are closed.  My IVIG was postponed until Thursday!  For almost NOTHING compared to Boston.

So I have to cancel my manicure....and wonder about tomorrow.

And it is going to be almost zero by Friday...so we are in a deep freeze.

Well, Minnesota sits here cold as heck and had some bad winds last week end plus a storm of ice and snow last week, but not a big accumulation. We need more snow as we are about 15 inches behind the normal and the farmers are waiting for snow but will also take some rains early spring.

It is dirty snow I am looking at and it is yukky. Interesting year. Irish

I'm from the south shore of Boston and I can tell you that everyone here is ready to snap!  With more than 7ft of snow in three weeks, we cannot even see where we are going. I live on a busy road and can't even see the cars drive by cuz the snow is so high. It is a nightmare trying to get out of driveway.

And of course these low pressure storms are wreaking havoc on my joints and overall sickness. I feel like all I want to do is crawl into bed.

On top of that, we have severe ice dams on our roof and have about five severe leaks coming into the house. Getting everything fixed is another huge expense we weren't expecting. That stress only adds to feeling sicker.

I have to keep telling myself it is only temporary. We'll get through this and by summer probably be complaining about the heat😀. In th meantime, it is frustrating. And another storm coming Saturday and  Sunday. Grrrrrrr😁

I had an ice dam in my gutters one year too. No fun at all. Cost me a bundle just to 1/2 way clean it out. I can't imagine with you all plus the snow.  :( :'(

I really can't complain seeing how the 2/3rds of the nation is doing.

It was 31 here in Orlando this morning - which probably sounds like summer to some of you - but for us it is Siberia.  However, on the positive side - the azaleas have been bloom for a couple of weeks now as have other spring flowers - so spring is on the way.

Wow. 31 in Orlando! I wouldn't want to be the kids who are spending their winter vacation in Disney!

It was 9 degrees here this morning (or was it 6)  around 7am - record breaking cold in any event. I think it dropped to like 3 during the night

My buddy in FL was griping about 24 degrees in Lakeland. HA!! He should try 9 degrees.

Where oh where is spring???

Oh Amanda, it was 8 degrees on our deck this morning....but it's supposed to warm up tomorrow!

People here just cannot deal with this kind of cold.

But the days are longer, and now I KNOW we won't have any more snow and Spring is around the corner.

AND we are driving down to Florida in 10 days to visit friends on the West Coast, Sarasota area. Spring Training!

Heat wave this morning - 20 degrees, and we have more snow in our forecast coming in a couple of days. But 51 tomorrow!!!!!!

Only projected an inch of snow - but in these parts even an inch is enough to make it a mess as it warms up just enough to melt some of it during teh day which then freezes to ice/black ice overnight.

My sympathies to those of you living up in the frozen tundra. It has to play havoc with your health. I'm in the south and while it gets a little chilly, the worst part is the changing weather fronts, fog and rain that also make you feel horrible. Extremes of weather are a curse to my aches and pains.

Hopefully spring will be on its way soon Pieces.
