I hope you don't have to handle your aunt's estate, too! I know the feeling, Bucky. You can get that table done!

Sharon

Did you survive or do we need to call in the search dogs?

Bucky

I might as well just confess it now . . no, I didn't get the table finished.  :(  I picked up a few things, looked through them, and put them back down!   ::)  So many other things are pulling me in all directions right now.

I DID get some things accomplished today though (although, not on the table).

*  Mailed off an estate paper that I had to sign and return.

*  Made our tax app't. for the end of March.

*  Returned a purse to Kohl's and searched for another one (which I found, yay!).  I mentioned this before, but I love, love, love Kohl's return policy.  It doesn't matter how long you've had the item, if you have the receipt or not, they will take it back and either let you even exchange an item, or you get store credit.

*  Called the doctors office to request two copies of some recent tests - one for son, one for me - which I will pick up tomorrow.

*  Made a practice run to find where son & I need to go for his test on Friday. (I had an idea where the place was, just wanted to be sure where we needed to be for the app't.)  (I was already out-and-about, so it was just a matter of driving past this place so I would know where it's at.  It was on my way to other places today.)

*  Went and talked to the salesman at the flooring place.  He sent me home with some samples to show hubby.  The person who does the measuring had already called the house by the time I got home to set up an app't. to come measure the rooms.  Wow, that was fast.  Now, we're playing phone tag to connect with each other.

*  Stopped and got some office supplies for work, plus some groceries for home.

*  Picked up a free coupon (B1G1F - buy one, get one free) to the Spring Home Show this weekend.  I've never gone to one here in IL, I have gone to the one they had in Cleveland, OH when I lived there.  Every possible vendor related to your home/yard, etc. is there which helps - as you don't have to trek all over town seeing each one individually - they are all there in one spot for the weekend.

Whew . . is it nap time yet??   ;)

Oh boy, are we going to have a LOT of work to do to get ready for new flooring.  Everything has to be removed from the rooms.  Yikes!!  There are several heavy pieces and hubby, nor I, can move them.  Of course, the installer will move them . . . for a price.  I'm not sure I'm up to this challenge - but, it's either now, or never.

I don't know how they are going to move the washer & dryer that are on the pedestal stands - those puppies are heavy!!

I'm going to HAVE to resort to stacking "stuff" on some tables in the garage while they lay the floor - I have nowhere to put the stuff.  I'd rather park my car outside for a bit, versus lugging this stuff down the stairs to the basement to "hide" them, I mean, "temporarily" store them.   ;)  (Check back with me next fall and see if I've taken the tables down yet.  LOL)

The sooner we get this all done, the better, as the place that will be doing our flooring will also have a spot at the Home Show this weekend.  So, if we can at least get on the schedule first, before any other people, we'll get 'er done first.  And . . . once spring gets here and the nearby town starts rebuilding from the tornado, that's more people who will need flooring added to the schedule.

The salesman said they can get the floor done in one day, but you have to leave the furniture off it for 24-48 hrs.

If anybody is available to come help - I would be glad to see you.

Whoa!  For someone that didn't get a table cleaned off, you sure did do a bunch of stuff!

I didn't do a darn thing the last couple of days, I'll admit it, except go to the funeral home after work then photography class Tuesday night and the funeral yesterday.  I've been lazy after my whirlwind Valentine weekend.  Hubby took me to a charity Valentines Ball Friday night and we danced and danced.  Then he borrowed a friends 78 Trans Am Saturday and we went to a local park and road around that afternoon.  So I'm still recuperating.

Sunday we drove to Mothers home met with tenants, contractor and realtor.

Home looks good and tenants even had carpets cleaned.

Painting will be extensive.. has not been painted ..so paint dried out at heat exchanges and flaked. Needs to be spackled. Catherdral ceiling the same and the basement cinder blocks where they were painted (might have son do that.)

Realtor suggested taking down one wall of covering in kitchen/eating area. That would have to be cleaned and primed as well. (Maybe son again?). Realtor came in a bit higher than my research for listing.

Subtle crash for a few days.

Thursday.
Got painting estimate and it is high. So called a painter today and will have to go back down.
Organize copies/legal docs for errands today. Start Estate Loop.
*Drove to bank with Executor papers (different, closer branch) to get docs.
* Errands
*My Bank
* Tax Agent for Estate. Found out we are missing another doc.
Had her send Fax to retirement account. Had been looking for tax info. Tired to access online. Finally called and learned they do not send out once a person is deceased.  So I have been searching all over for something I never had..  :(  But, did ask if they would fax to tax agent.. YES.

All part of the new learning curve.
Tax Agent is really good... picked up that bank should have made a distribution to my brother and I .. was not done. She picked up some other things as well. And was on the phone with the bank.  What a relief.

So great I have a reliable tax agent. She is really sharp, clear and to the point.

Who by the way ..  Dr. is monitoring her ANA numbers. Bless her.

My goodness, I go away for a few days, and you all achieve mountains!

I've done nothing, but we have had a few days in the north-east of England, visiting Lindisfarne, and the surrounding area. It was cold, but the sun shone for us, and we didn't get caught in the rain once, so that was our achievement :)

Our home has now been up for sale for three months. It was sparkling clean at the beginning, but we have started to get a bit lazy, so the next few weeks we need to clean windows, wipe paintwork etc. And, as soon as the wind drops, and the land is less boggy, we need to tidy up a bit outside.

We would like to be somewhere smaller (and mortgage free) by the time my hubby retires, which is exactly a year away now. Wish I could retire then, but I have another 9 years before I get my pension :(

Keep up the good work everyone.

Well, I started out pretty good, but a couple of days ago my dad had a heart attack, so I haven't done anything. He is stable now, and Monday or Tuesday they will be putting in a pacemaker.

(((Susanep))) - sorry to hear your Dad had a heart attack.  I'm glad he's stable now.  Wishing him well with his pacemaker surgery.

Remember to take some time for yourself too.  I know how it is to be looking after a parent, taking care of your husband & household, etc.  Take a deep breath, and breathe.

Hugs to you,

OK - I'm getting desperate . . . in the morning a man is coming to the house to measure the rooms for our new flooring.

In times past, I could always "temporarily" "hide" things in the bedroom and close the doors if someone was coming to the house.  Well, this man will need to measure the floor in the hallway that leads into each bedroom - so, no closed doors.  Yikes!!

Oh my gosh, this new flooring project is overwhelming!  It's so much easier when this is done in an empty house and you don't have to remove appliances, furniture, etc.

I still need to mop the floors yet tonight, clear off the dining room table, maybe take a few things down to the basement.  In my desperate, running out of time, no other option plan is to take a box and box up the contents on the dining room table and "hide" it in my car in the garage until this man leaves.   ???

I sorted through the pile of shoes and boots in the mud room tonight.  Threw out a bunch that were beyond someone else wearing them.  Came across a pair of boys black dress shoes kids size 6 - our son now wears an adult size 11.  Needless to say, they've been sitting in the mud room "for a while".   :-[

I did make a run to Menards tonight too to replace two heater vents on the floor.  The ones that were there were nasty!!  They look good now!   :)

I'm still open to any help if anyone is available.  I've got a lot of cleaning to do here with this little project.

Better keep moving along . . it might be an all nighter.  (I can sleep later, after the man comes tomorrow morning.)

Oh Bucky, shame I didn't see your plea for help until this morning!

Wishing you the very best of luck with the flooring man - and I will make cake for us to eat later  ;D

Hugs

Bucky

Kathyx - I am SO ready for some cake right now!   ;)

I only had to "hide" a few things in the car - one box (with contents from dining room table), one bag with some more papers in it, and a few dishes that I didn't have time to wash up as the dishwasher was full of clean dishes.  So, not so bad!   :D

Now we wait for the estimate to come in for the floor and moving appliances.

We will have to remove the baseboards and get some quarter round to stain for the installation.  I don't think hubby will be able to do this, we might have to pay someone to do that for us.  Ugh!

I did go back to bed for a bit after the man left - I needed it, the four hours sleep that I got last night didn't quite cut it!  Ahhh, it felt good to get some more sleep.

Keep up all your little projects everyone . . . bit by bit, we'll get it done.
