Hi

I just want to share my good news with you.

As some of you know, there have been tensions in my family for a few years, with estranged siblings, and at one time, not being able to see our grandchildren. Well, three years ago, hubby and I were reunited with our eldest son and his children, which was amazing. It's taken time, but we are all good friends now.

However, our youngest son would never agree to seeing his eldest brother and family, and refused to let his children have any involvement through us. Amazingly, about three weeks ago, the two boys met up and became friends again. And their children met each other properly for the first time. They both have girls of five and boys of 7/8. The kids just love having cousins. They have all met today for the third time, and are getting on great.

We are so thankful!

Now we just have to get dil 2 and 3 in the same room together, without squablling, and our lives will be complete.

Congratulations!  Sometimes it just takes time to heal things over. Thank goodness some of the children can overcome their parent's prejudices.

We were estranged from my dad's side of the family until grandma & her siblings passed. My grandfather was not approved of by the family and they had their nose out of joint for years. My dad was always "his" kid and I was always "his" grandkid.  ::)  In fact, after my grandmother passed, her siblings started to come around and actually be jealous of my folks. I had a wonderful relationship with my parents and their kids only came around when they wanted something if even then.  So actually, I think our family came out on top!  ;)

They may come around in time. BUT thank goodness for the little children. 8)

Congratulations! It must be a wonderful feeling. I have lived with a similar situation for years and it can be painful. Enjoy your wonderful new memories as your family reconnects and grows.

I'm so glad for you, Kathy.

Patience is hard, but best when it pays off with movement towards peace and joy.

The little kids have a joy in knowing cousins!

I am in a similar situation, with my oldest DS/DIL and a GD I have never met.  They haven't had anything to do with our side of the family in a couple of years.  I always hold out hope that maturity will bring them around.  I'm very happy for you.  It truly is a heartbreaking situation to be in.

((Kathyx)) - what good news for you and your family.  I know this has weighed heavily on your heart through the years.  I'm glad the "boys" are friends again and their kids can enjoy each other.

Life is too short and precious as it is - may you all continue to be blessed with mended relationships and new memories to treasure.

Hugs,
Bucky

Thank you Mrs Bucky and all

We had tea with the two families at the weekend. It was so nice to see the little ones playing together. The little girls look as though they are in love with each other - the boys, of course, are far tougher, but follow each other around.

My heart bursts with pride.

Their dads were chatting like old friends too - and even though they have been apart for some years, it's interesting to see their shared mannerisms.
