I have only been diagnosed since January but I do believe that I have had this SJS for many years.  My question is, do any of you have issues with walking even short distances, getting weak, becoming very hot, getting sweaty, feeling faint and begin itching all over?
We went to the mall today just to do a little walking and pick up some stuff from Bath and Body Works and we no more than got to the register and I started getting anxious and broke out into a sweat, began itching and felt as if I could pass out. I told my husband I needed to sit down right away or he would be picking me up off the floor. After sitting down for a few minutes, I felt much better! I have an appt with a cardiologist tomorrow and possibly a stress test.... any thoughts?

Talk to your doctor about your symptoms. Mine were similar before the stents were put in my heart. Have you had a heart check up?

I am supposed to have a check up with a cardiologist tomorrow. I just really hope he will listen!  You know how some doc's can be about not being very good about that.  I will def keep you posted!  By the way, How are you doing since?  Are you feeling much better?

Hi Momedic,

How frightening for you. Luckily, your husband was there to help.

So, glad to hear you are getting checked-out.  Hopefully, you will get answers today and that it is all good news.

Some others causes you might consider are:  an anxiety attack (anxiety and depression are things we soggies are known for), a combination of asthma along with the anxiety attack (Do you ever hear yourself wheezing or do you have problems swallowing larger-sized pills?).

I see you list depression as one of your conditions. When I was first being treated by a psychiatrist, she treated both the depression and anxiety.  As time went on, the depression lessened and my anxiety came front and center.  My psych then changed my meds for ones that better addressed the anxiety.

Other things to watch for as you, no doubt, add more Rx's to your daily routine is whether to take them with food or on an empty stomach. Certain pills on an empty stomach can cause some of your symptoms.  A blood sugar drop can also cause some of these symptoms. I guess what I'm trying to say is it may not be as simple as one cause, it could have been a combination.

Wishing you well,

Shade

I'm glad you're seeing your doctor to get it checked out. Sounds pretty scary.

Momedic

Thank you all for your replies and concerns!  I am getting ready to head out the door for the doc now. Will hopefully have some answers later this afternoon!  Will keep ya posted! And, yeah, I am being treated for anxiety and depression.... not doing much for the symptoms tho..  :( ,  so, we shall see what happens today!  Hope this doc knows and understands SJS!

Well, so... went to the cardiologist today, had an echo and stress test. FAILED the stress test miserably!  Only lasted 4 1/2 minutes and felt like I was going to pass out,  my heart rate increased to 152 and my B/P was also elevated!  Had to stop the test and sit down.  The doc was not happy with my results! He has put me on an "event monitor" for a month. (I push the button to record an event when I feel it happening) He said it is probably Atrial tachycardia and is already talking about cardiac ablation!  He has placed me on Cardizem 30 mg to start to see if that will help slow down the heart rate without bottoming out my B/P. He is familiar with SJS!!  And is very proactive with reading up on issues he is not completely familiar with or needs more understanding!  I think I have a keeper for a cardiologist!!!

And... another note! Same cardiologist my husband uses!!  How convenient!!

Thanks for the update.  I was hoping for no heart issues.  Take good care of yourself!

Thanks so much for the positive thoughts! I was hoping for no heart issues too, but.... guess only time will tell for sure now... but as it stands now, it looks like it is...  ???  I go back in a week and will give another update then!  Keeping fingers crossed and the prayers going up!

Wow- yes, a keeper. I'm so glad you found help.

Thanks for the words of encouragement!  I need all of those I can get right now.  Seems like everything is hitting all at once.  I was a bit overwhelmed yesterday.  I am feeling a bit better about things today. But, as we all know, that is subject to change at a moments notice.  I try to keep up beat to keep the pain from becoming too bad. I try not to cry because it really makes them dry out BAD!!  The restasis did not work for me.. the burning was terrible!  I go back to my Opthamologist on the 12th to see about a different approach on that issue!  Now, to find a rheumy to fill in the other blanks!!  That seems to be the brick wall for me right now! But, this will come, I am trying to have faith!  Thanks again for the encouragement! I soooo need it!
