I have just booked a trip from our home to Laughlin Nev, for the week of Sept 3-7!!!!!!! I cut the ad out of the paper about a week ago and had it sitting by my computer.  I didn't say much to hubby as we have had other things going on around here, which shall remain nameless or anything else.

He told me to go ahead.  The price is only $325/person for flight and hotel.  I would pay that much for a flight to LV!
Laughlin is a mini-Vegas.  Have not been there, but have been to Vegas a lot.  This is smaller, fewer by far many casinos and less things to do.  But still, we're going.  I looked and there are things to do, a few shows in town at casinos,  A craft show is going on and you are on the Colorado river.  Hope our hotel rooms are ok.  I wanted to share my happiness.  We all share out hard times and whines, and it's only fair to throw in a few good times.

If anyone wants me to play for them, mail me $100 and I'll send you whatever your money wins.  How about a deal like that?   :-\  Lucy

You betcha, Lucy!!! :o

Hope you have a great time. Irish

Oh how cool!  I wish I could send you some dough...the kids ate my money. Used to be by dog ate my homework. Oh, how times change but stay the same at the same time.

Sounds wonderful. Tell us about it when you get back. Let me live vicariously thru you please.

That's great Lucy! I hope you have fun and maybe win some "big bucks" while you're there too!  :)

I was in Laughlin quite a few years ago....you're right...it's a mini and quieter Vegas...but I'm sure it has built up quite a bit since I have been there. And yes...being on the Colorado River is very nice...such clear water... I couldn't believe it!

Have fun...you will find plenty to do in the surrounding area to fill your time! We went to Oatman, Arizona one day (a former mining town in the mountains off of old Route 66). It was fun and something different to do....all of the mules/donkeys just kind of wander around wherever they want to in town...lol!

Enjoy....

Just had to look it up Lucy - it looks a fab place for a few days' holiday.  Hope you have an amazing time.  Remember us when you hit the big time!!  Xx Ailsa

Sounds like the treat you need, Lucy. Enjoy!

Ona lesser scale, I've just decided to treat my DH to a show in London in the autumn. He wants to see the Jersey Boys, so I'm hoping I can get tickets. It will be a surprise for him.

We went away tonight and when we came home, I had a call from someone at the resort who said they "gave me wrong information on our flights."  Well, they didn't give me any information about our flights--so I'm hoping that the news is at least neutral like a wrong number or something.  I have a creepy feeling.  I could not get a response on phone because of the fact they were closed.  A resort closes at 5 pm?  huh?  Well, I left a message and expect call back tomorrow.  cross fingers.    Lucy

HAve you found out what the problem is yet?

Well, that's what I get for posting such good info.  I found out that THEY made a mistake by giving me a booking.  They were already full.  I told them on the phone I was very (x8) disappointed and I had it all over Facebook and everything.  (Really).  I also sniffled and said this was to celebrate our 50th anniversary (true) and all I could think of.  They said they will call me back.

I'm thinking the guy who owns the hotel and airline can afford to pay for two regular airline tickets for us to go and come back.  The mistake was theirs.  Also they have 1600 hotel rooms and certainly there must be one for us.  I am disappointed (naturally) and am hoping they will come thru with something.  Not very many ppl cancer those trips as it says on there non-cancellable.  Duh.   So here I sit, thinking I have tickets when I don't.  All our friends and relatives think so too.  I will tell after I hear from the hotel.  This was the first time I had ever seen this particular trip and it's very reasonable.  Boo hiss to this place--unless they make good my reservations.  I haven't threateded any one yet.  ;D  I won't of course, but how can they pass up a 50th anniv celebration?  Probably very easily.  Boo hiss and I hope they get hemmorhoids.  Lucy 8)

Oh Lucy that is disappointing. Hopefully they will come up with just what you need, and want. Happy 50th Anniversary!

Good, I'm glad you told them how it was. I wouldn't be surprised if they came back and offered you an extra special deal. I'll be waiting with baited breath.

Well, I got what I was supposed to get.  I wonder if we will have to stay in the toilets because all of their seats wer sold out.  We're short so we don't need a lot of room.  This was not easy to do and they acted like I asked them t pull all their teeth.

So bottom line, we have a go on the airline.  We board about 45 miles from us.  So the trip to the airport is nothing and the trip home is nothing.  We'll leave the car there and not rely on daughter or anyone else to pick us up.  Not that that's a problem, but we'll manage and won't need a lot of luggage.  I have to go look at Laughlin's website now and see what trouble I can get into.   8)  Lucy

Wonderful news, Lucy. Well done for having the tenacity to see this through. When do you go?

I booked the thank you theatre trip for 'Nurse David'. He was delighted.

We leave the afternoon of Sept 3 and return on Sept 7.  My hubby is going camping with our 40's daughter for a few days over the weekend.  It is a campsite with pit toilets and no electric.  No way in heck would you catch me there.  Maybe in a motor home with all the amenities.

I wonder how the two of them will get along.  She is usually all for Dad and zero for Mom.....but Mom won't be there so it should be interesting for both of them. I'm not sure why she got rustic camp, but she has gone there before with her cousins.  I shall have my house all to myself for 2-3 days.  Lucfy

Yay!!!!

have a nice quiet weekend, read 50 shades of gray  - prime yourself before the big trip  ;)

I'm glad it worked out, and I'm glad the Inn keepers won't get hemmorhoids now (giggle) - that was funny.

Congratulations on the 50th! WoW!
