My neurologist says I have carpal tunnel in both hands but does not think it is related to sjs. How many of you have it? I cannot figure out why he thinks that. Wally

My reumatologist says I have carpal tunnel in both hands also.

I know someone who has had the surgery in both wrists three times now. Doesn't seem to me the surgery worked.

Have a good day.

I have carpal tunnel and did way before SJS was diagnosed.  I was a secretary prior to retiring.  I had surgery on one wrist and it worked somewhat and will not bother with the other one since I'm retired.  I've found wearing wrist braces at night a big help with carpal tunnel.  Lucy

Yep, me too...have had it before SJS too.

Haven't had the surgery, but wear braces at night and sometimes during the day.

Dr. Nancy Carteron, a SjS specialist in San Francisco, said in a presentation I heard at a conference that carpal tunnel is not uncommon for SjS patients.  Kind of makes you wonder which came first -- as in the chicken or the egg argument.

Hi there, I've had carpal tunnel in both my wrists, my right side twice.  Surgery was the final treatment after six weeks
in the brace.  Soaking in warm water also helped for a while.  I did alot of medical transcription, scrubbing my floor on
my hands and knees and repetitious movement with hands causs it.  I made one mistake and that was getting both hands
fixed at same time lol.  Never again.  Poor hubby had to do everything!  But I can truly say it was the best thing I did.  Just
get an EMG done thru a neurologist and they can diagnose it.  Here in Phoenix they have a Dr. Brown do it endoscopically thru
a scope which is kinda different.  I too had carpal tunnel long before any of my other diagnoses.

Take care, hugs Linda.

I have carpal tunnel and have had it for 10 years - - only dx with sjogrens for a little over a year.  In August I had my left hand done - it's healing wonderfully.  November 19th is the second surgery - - not really up for it but want it done now while I"ve met my out of pocket deductible for insurance - - I thought I read somewhere that many sjogies have carpal tunnel - - who knows if it's related or not.

I have carpal tunnel, both hands, too. Also Dequervains tendonitis in both wrists and arthritis. All diagnosed within a year of each other and around when Sjogrens was diagnosed.

I have had carpal tunnel in both wrists.  The right was far worse and I got the release done in 2009.  So far so good!  I am glad I did it because I hated having my hands fall asleep when I was driving!!!  Of interest, the guy who did my nerve conduction tests or whatever they are called, said I had the most abnormal readings he has ever seen.  He couldn't believe I wasn't in a lot of pain, I said nah just my hands fall asleep LOL...
