Joy and Katy,
You are just too funny!  Guess I am fortunate that the birds poop on the top of my car and not too often on the windows (no skylights so they manages to bomb as they fly form feeder to trees or roof).

But Joy, I do know what you mean about the 'peckers!  We have a completely wooden house, mostly cedar sided but the eaves are of pine treated with CWF.  Still have to chase those guys away!  Must give your arthritic arms some exercise shooing yours away!

And Bucky, how do you stop those big carpenter bees???  Hubby has blocked up many of their hoes this Spring.

The 'little fawn' was spotted a number of times yesterday as we had to go up and down the drive numerous times in vehicles.  Tried to go to town but couldn's get out the lane because of fallen tree, so back up to get the truck and chain saw, then back down in two vehicles, all the while mommy deer stood above Jr.  Didn't see them when we finally got home but at evening we were getting an isolated thunder shower and who do we see scampering in and out of the slower bed and at the perimeter of the lawn???  Yep, little Jr.!  Had to go out on the porch and scold him again.  Don't think he speaks or understands English!  ::)   LOL  Back off he went.  Think he was afraid of the thunder and rain, all new to him.

Bucky, do hope that your heart is still jumping with pride and admiration over last night's festivities.  What a blessing!

I am anticipating being outside for much more than 10 minutes the nest few days as my granddog will be here soon for the weekend.  Yes, so will daughter, which delights me no end but she doesn't make sure I get outside!

Happy holiday!
Miss Bucky, you beat me to the post this AM!  LOL So glad to hear everything went well last night but feel your pain of separation.  I will have to do that Monday.

I am headed to the beach in the morning so I will get more than my 10 minutes a day. I love the beach, I just sit in my chair and read, read, read. So relaxing. It is the only place I really feel at peace.
I'll get a beach day after next week...school will be out, my students and my youngest will have graduated...can't wait to dig my toes in the sand. It's worth the whole day in th airplane!!!

After Thursday, I'm "pooped," or should I be nice a say "tuckered" out    ???

"When you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on."         Franklin D. Roosevelt may have said this BUT after yesterday's exercise class and helping hubby do some house chores today...

I'm fit "to be tied." All tuckered out... Where has my energy gone?   :P    Please don't mention that it might be age related!

I'm off to bed... nightly, night all!   Joy

Day 25

Happy Saturday everyone!   ;D  Today is Day 25 of our 30 day commitment to being outside for at least 10 minutes each day.

Getting a late start to the day today.  I slept in this morning . . . ahhhhh, felt good.   ;D  When I was outside I was out there trying to figure out why our cat, Spooky, always sits at the far end of our field.  That is SO not like her.  She's been doing that for about the last two weeks.  So, I walked over to her and she's just looking at me as if to say "what?"  Silly kitty.   I don't know why she keeps sitting there.  ???

Going to be heading back outside here directly as our son is going to mow the grass (only his second time using the riding mower) and I need to be out there to supervise.  Hubby is off taking some photography (he's a freelance photographer on the side that brings in extra money that allows me to be a stay-at-home mom).  I'm "thinking" of having a garage sale next week, so I will work out in the garage getting that ready today too.  Anybody want to come help??   :D

I better get moving . . . have a good day today . . . I'll see you tomorrow.

Hi Bucky

Would love to come and help - but only if I can have a ride on that mower :)

Today it has rained from dwan 'til dusk. The gardens are now very green, and the leaves on the trees look plump and lush. I can hear lots of birds singing, but have not been out looking for them today. Will hope for better weather tomorrow, when the little grandies are coming. Then we will carry on with our ornithology lessons.

Happy Saturday to you too :)

Today is Day 25... And, what have you done today Joy???  :(    Really, nothing! Slept late and it's been in the 80's this p.m. and did not even venture to the mailbox.

Hubby came from working on other farm and into my room and suggested we go out to eat in town. We did and then I went to Wal-mart and purchased $66 worth of OTC products to try and help myself feel better.

I spend so much on OTC things for self...do you folks?

Well, that sums up what I have done today.  ???

Believe, hubby deserves an award for mowing the yard! Total of 40 minutes and it's no little yard... and, hear the lower garage door going up and he's DONE!!!! I am going to veggie garden to spend 10 quality minutes with him admiring his beautiful garden. ;)

Catch you later....

Day 26

Good morning . . .happy Sunday to you!   ;D  Today is Day 26 of our 30 day commitment to being outside for at least 10 minutes each day.

I slept in a little longer than I should have this morning, so I haven't taken my 10 minutes outside YET.  I'm in a time crunch this morning, so my outdoor time will have to wait until this afternoon.   All the time I spent outdoors yesterday mowing and cleaning out the garage should be allowed to be banked.   ;)   :D

I have to keep moving . . . I'll check back in later today.  Have a good Sunday.   ;D

Hi Bucky and Joy

I'm feeling very proud today. I spent half an hour outside hoeing weeds from a small section of my garden. I'm feeling pretty pleased at doing that. I couldn't do any longer, as I was hurting too much, but will try to do a bit more tomorrow.

Looking forward to hearing everyone else's news.

Bucky

Kathyx - good for you tending to your garden . . just don't overdo it!!

Well, today I spent my outdoor time loading and unloading groceries, then went outside for a bit this evening.  I really don't like going out in the evening as the mosquitoes think I am their dessert!!   ::)  It seems since we have had so much wet weather that the bugs are out in numbers this summer (although, technically, it isn't summer yet . . it's still spring - even though the thermometer has been reading 90 degrees!!   :o).

Hope everyone has had a good Sunday.

Day 26 of Our Special Bucky's Red Hot Sale  :P     ... Hotter than xxxxxx here in these hills! Spent the day inside until late evening when neighbor came and brought some of their daughter's HS graduation party goodies to us.  We spent at least 30 minutes  on the porch. It had rained somewhere and I could even smell the 'moisture' on the cool air currents.

You know, our neighbor's daughter even commented about the mockingbird and all his tunes...after darkness even! Hope his brood soon leaves the nest!!!!

Kathy, I know that good feeling when you get to spend time in your flower garden...even if it's hoeing weeds.  Oh, how I miss being outside for hours at a time. Bet you do, too. Right???

Again, nighty night... Joy

Day 27

Good morning . . . happy Monday to you.   ;D  Today is Day 27 of our 30 day commitment to being outside for at least 10 minutes each day.

This morning I spent my time out on the front porch as it is thundering and raining right now.  I could hear the birds singing, turkeys gobbling, an airplane flying in the distance, and cars going down the road.

Today, here in the USA, it is Memorial Day.  A day where we stop to remember those who have paid the ultimate price for our freedom and to honor those men and women who are currently serving our country in the armed forces.  As I stood on the front porch, I reflected on my own family members who have served and are currently serving our country.  Thank you to all of you past and present who give up time with your families, jobs, etc. to travel to places around the world in the name of peace.

May today be a blessed day for each of you.  See you tomorrow.

Hi Joy

Yes, I certainly do miss pottering about in the garden. I'm an amateur, but do like to tinker a bit. I think I'm getting used to not being able to do the things I ued to. The problem is, my brain thinks I can, then the body revolts. ANyway, I try to do bits here and there.

Bucky - Memorial day, yes I'm thankful for our wonderful troops. I have an 18 year old nephew who is likely to be sent to a war zone this year. I try not to think about it. Also, my God-daughter and her husband are seeing live action - one in Afghanistan, and one in Iraq. JUst so pleased that none of my sons have been recruited.

Speak soon.

Day 28

Good morning . . . . it's Tueeeeeeeesday!   ;D  Today is Day 28 of our 30 day commitment to being outside for at least 10 minutes each day.

Happy June 1st!   :D  Wow, this year is going by so quickly.  Today is going to be another busy day - I'm having a garage sale Wed. thru Fri. so I am busy setting it up and pricing everything.  It figures that it is suppose to rain tomorrow . . . never fails when I have a sale.  ::)  I don't "have" to have the sale this week, but I just want to get it done so i can clear out some unused/gently used "treasures". and make a little bit of money too.   ;D  It's already 75 degrees with 77% humidity at 10 a.m. . . . going to be another hot one today - climbing near 90.  Ugh.

I've already been in and out several times this morning . . . chased a stray cat out of the yard, keeping an eye on a wasp nest that I have asked hubby to take care of on several occasions (guess I'll have to take matters into my own hands  ;), and get 'er done).  Haven't seen Miss Spooky yet this morning . . . she was looking thinner yesterday, wonder if she has had her kittens??  I'll have to wander around the yard later and see if I can find where she is hiding them.

I better keep moving along.  If anyone wants to come help price, I'll let you have a sneak peek preview of my sale.   ;D

Enjoy your day - we only have two more days of our little adventure left.

Hi folks:

This weekend I've spent coming and going from a brief trip to Montana to visit my retired teacher. Two of us flew ourselves in a small (4-seater) one prop plane. The trip took 3 1/2 hours over two mountain ranges going, and 7 1/2 hours returning. We had to fly so far south to get around some weather that we ended up going through two extra states!

When there are only two of you, me and the pilot, it means you have to help out where possible. So at each takeoff and landing I was out there pushing the plane into position to be tied down or started as the case may be. (I just throw my cane onto the wing, lean into it and give it all I've got.) Needless to say, I'm pooped.

But my outdoor time these last few days includes walking around rural Montana - actually all of Montana is pretty rural - and time on the tarmac helping with the plane. I might include the time in the plane as well, as there is not much between you and the elements - so gorgeous flying low through mountain passes to get beneath the thunderclouds, miles and miles and miles of wilderness, open land and crops in Idaho, Utah, Oregon, and our own Washington state, and some amazing rainbows. A little more exotic than my usual weed-pulling.

Hope all is well. I'm looking forward to time outside today picking flowers for tea classes and peas for dinner.

Wow Genko

What an adventure! That certainly beats pulling weeds. I think I would have been terrified in such a small plane, with thunderstorms nearby! It's wonderful to hear about different activities - and different reasons for being pooped!
