Hi folks

I need to buy a (not too expensive) simple digital camera. I'm not a techie, and am not really interestedin/and don't understand all the functions that some digital cameras have. Basically, I want something that I can just point and shoot, and is easy to put onto my computer. Any ideas wiuld be gratefully accepted.

there are a lot of great cams out there for under $100 i usually go to walmart's website and look to see what people are saying about the items-you can do this by clikcing on the item and then reading the reviews.  I just bought a $180 samsung that has an auto shoot mode-meaning when its in auto shoot it detects the best mode for the picture whether that's action, low light, high light etc.  There are cheaper cams out there though that have the same feature.  I bought a nikon L20 and it sucked bad.  When I zoomed in to take a picture it made it all blurry no matter what mode I set it in.  I did have a Nikon L12 before that I loved.
I hope this helps you out!  Sorry I couldn't be more specific about a camera for you but just go to Walmart's website-walmart.com and check out the cameras!

I have always liked the Kodak Easy Share camera series....very simple, easy to use, and takes good pictures!

Have fun camera shopping!

I have a Canon PowerShot A1000IS camera.  Small, but takes great pictures.  My hubby does freelance photography as a hobby and this is the one he picked for me.  I told him I wanted something simple too.  The reviews we read on this camera were really good.

Good luck Kathyx.

I work at a photo lab and a lot of customers really like the Kodak Easyshares. I myself am on my 2nd Canon Powershot(1st one lasted over 6 yrs, 3.2 mp and loved it, finally something electronic went wrong with it) and love the ease and the optical zoom is pretty amazing(10 and a 9 meg.pix) and I don't think it was over $150.00. Good luck--Net

I work for a camera repair company and I think Canon makes great quality cameras.  I've had a Canon for over the past 3 years and I've never had a problem with it.  Kodak makes a lot of inexpensive cameras, but I've noticed from repair volumes at work and from friends who owned them that they tend to malfunction shortly after the warranty expires.  A great resource for comparing cameras is http://www.dpreview.com/.  I would also recommend going to a store and picking up the different cameras to find one that feels good in your hands and try it out.

Good luck, I hope you find a good one!

Canon Powershot is the one I have. It is easy to use and takes really good pictures; makes you look like a real photographer. My daughter gave it to me, and she does professional photography.

Since Erin brought up repair, I did NOT have good luck with two models of Samsung digital cameras, first went bad and after weeks, of having it they said couldnt fix and sent me next model, hated that one too...So just a thought....another two cents put in the pot ???

Genko - if anyone has any doubts about your camera - a person just needs to look at your beautiful pictures you have taken of your gardens.  Of course, it helps to have beautiful scenes to take pictures of.   ;D  Love, love, love your gardens.   ;D

Bucky (owner of the same camera Genko owns - just wish I had a garden like hers  :D)
