Does anyone have any input about Hughes Net Wireless Internet?   Good?  Bad?  We live out in a rural area and you can't always get all the high speed stuff here.   Hubby is exploring other options.

Thanks

All I know is that it is a satellite internet system similar to what we have in my area, Dish or Direct TV.   How reliable this is I do not know.  I do know that may where I live use this and get wonderful reception.  My Mom lives eighty miles away from me in a very rural area with loads of pine trees.  Because of her location and the distance she was from receiving towers she was always having problems with the satellite systems ( she tried both direct and Dish).  She is having Charter Cable installed this week.  I would ask neighbors in your area as to what they use and if they are getting good reception.  This company should also be able to tell you how close a receiving tower is to your location which makes a big difference on how problem free you will be.  Good luck.

We live in Minnesota in the country and have had Direct TV and currently have Dish Network. I have seen the HughesNet advertised on TV. I have often wondered about it but never did a search on it.

We can't get cable--only satelitte. The government gave a grant to some companies to put in underground wires(can't think of the term now--high speed something) and it goes right by our place. You can get the TV, internet and telephone from this company. Problem is you have to take 2 or 3 package to get a reasonable price. The phone service is to the East of us and we do all our shopping-doctoring, business West of us. Mu DIL got the phone and internet and really likes it. The TV  only has 80 stations.

Stop and think what the people in this country must spend on all the communication gadgets. When I got married we had so few things that were extra that we thought we needed. Now we totally need our cell phone, internet, cable TV, etc. Could buy a fair amount of groceries or gas with the money we spend on these electronic items. Irish ;D
