Been out awhile. Greeting to my sjoggy buddies,   :)

10 days of 2 wheels up and 2000+ miles mounted on my bike.

My husband and I took a fall trip on our motorcycles to Gatlinburg, Tenn. and also Robbinsville North Carolina. We love the Smokey Mountains. This time of year they present beautiful fall colors, making for a great fall bike trip.

We love riding at Deals Gap near Robbinsville N. Carolona. The Tail of the dragon boast of  318 curves in 11miles on the small hwy 129.

Although the weather was not always cooperative,  we did drive thru some rain and some cold. We left our area of NW Ark. when strong rain storms were about to hit, In fact the day after we left they received over 6-7 inches of rain.

I am envious of anyone, who lives in that area of the Smokey mountains and the Blue ridge pkwy.  :)

Our Ozark hills are great, but they are like midget mountains by comparison.

I can't help but wonder how much longer my sjoggy body will permit me to indulge in the adventures of life I still crave to enjoy.  :-\

Its good to be home and I am ready to settle down. Get ready for winter and Christmas.

Now I will get caught up with my sjoggy family.

I hope I post my pictures to share successfully.   :-\

Wow Kimbo!  What a great holiday you both had.  I've only seen pictures of the Smokey Mountains so it's hard to imagine being there, so the photos and your descriptions really helped.  I'm so glad you got to enjoy the landscape and your amazing bike.

As you say, none of us can know how long our 'Sjoggy bodies' will permit us to enjoy life's adventures - but you certainly looks great in your red jacket!

Thanks for sharing the photos and tales of your adventures.

Take care - Chickpea

Welcome home Kimbo!!

I too love the Smoky Mtns.  We were there this past spring.

Did your Sjogren's behave for your trip?

Nice pictures - thanks for sharing your trip.   ;D

Hey Bucky,

My sjoggie body really did well.

We did a lot of walking in Gatlinburg.  And I felt some over whelming fatigue come on a couple of times. You know the kind, where you just feel like you need to sit down and rest a while. So I did  ;D. And my husband understands when I say, "I gotta sit down and rest  NOW!"

Bucky, I think I could live in that area, and never get tired of looking at those beautiful mtns.

OH yeah one brain fog crises.  :)   Gotta tell this story.

My husband was in the work out room of our hotel. I was playing on some of the machines and watching the TV. Got bored and told him I was going up to take a hot bath in the jacuzzi.  :)
When I was in the tub, with my hair all shampooed up and lathering up. The phone rings, the front desk tells me, my husband does not have his key and could I let him in?
We are 9 flights up and there was a foyer door and then our door and the neighboring apt door beside ours, so its a little room with the 2 doors to separate condo suites. When I went out our door to let him in.......Our door shut behind me..... I was wrapped in a towel, only, and shampooed hair suds up top my head.
Locked out of our room with out a key.  :'( So my husband was very amused when I opened the out side door and said between clenched teeth,  Go get a key at the front desk  NOW.   9 flights back down, while I waited impatiently.
I said "oh my Gosh" over and over and over about 50 times while I waited. The water was still running in that tub and I was having a panic attack at the thought of the tub running over and the whole place knowing my crises.

This could all only happen to a SJOGGIE????? :o

The tub did not run over and I did finish my relaxing tub bath end of story.  ;D

When I finish laughing I'll sympathize. :D :D :D :D :D

I am so glad you did so well with your Sjoggie body and didn't have anything more than a couple moments when it reared it's ugly head.

It would have been nice if the front desk had given him another key first. ;D

Take care and relax with your pictures and memories.  It sounds like you had a terrific time.

Hugs, Pooh

Looks like an amazing trip - I nearly choked on my cup of tea when I thought you did 2,000 miles on your bike, til I realised it was a motorcycle and not a regular bicycle  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D    xx

Patze

Oh my Kimbo, that is too funny!!!  But I'm so glad that y'all had a great time!  ;D

Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo . . . . . what an ordeal being locked out.  Bet you won't do that again!!   ;D  That will be something you will always remember about the Fall 2009 trip to TN.   ;D  Okay, you're back in AR now, none of that stuff around there!!  LOL

If we ever have to move, I think I'd like to move to that area (Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg), my Dad is from Sevierville and we have "kinfolk" there.   I love the Smoky Mtns. too.  I bet the people who live in that area year-round wish all the tourists would go home!!  It can get quite busy there from spring thru fall.  Traffic down the main drag is bumper-to-bumper!

Yeah Bucky,

That Bumper to Bumper took us by surprise.
We live near Branson, and I kept saying..."this is like Branson on steroids and quadrupeled"

I bet your Dad has stories to tell about the growth of that mess.

Hi Kimbo....welcome home!

What a great trip...and thanks for sharing your pics with us!

I'm another one who absolutely loves that area and have been to the Smokey Mountains about 5 times. I love the beauty and peacefulness of the mountains and have been there at different times of the year...all of which have been great!

Did you take your bikes around Cades Cove? I love going there as well.....your trip made me reminisce about that beautiful place...I want to go back again...its been quit a few years!

Thanks for sharing! I'm glad you got to enjoy one more trip before the winter cold and snow sets in!

kimbo

Hey Lynn,

We missed Cades cove. I regret that, because several people ask if we got to make that drive.

We did make the Cherohala Sky way drive, very nice day and great fall views.

I hope you get to go again soon.

Bernice

Hello Kimbo & All,

I too have been away for a while, enjoying my new sight!

Kim I know what you mean about the beauty of the Smokies, I live about 3 hrs. away. We go there quite often. In fact I had been hoping to spend this Christmas there. They decorate ALL the communities for Christmas, really go all out! I was hoping of renting some log cabins and having my family, including my only grand baby there with me. I can't think of a more perfect Christmas day, there offers a better chance of snow and winter like scenery, but because we have so very much going on around that time of the year, no one else wants to go.

My family host a Christmas party for community every year, plus this year my mom's 70th B-Day, so I think I will be stuck here in my snow -less area again, I just hope it's one of our few winter days, after all it's the only time I hope for a little snow.

So glad you enjoyed yourself, but Kim, that was too much to have on a Sjoggie's mind at one time.
Door, lock, water running, phone, towel, Husband, hair, all while partly dressed?

Dangerous situation!!!!

Ha!

Oh Kim, That sounds like a trip from heaven. I have always wanted to see the Smokey Mountains as everone says they are really awesome. Glad you had a good time in spite of your sjogrens.

Also, I can't believe your ordeal in your towel. That is something that only happens in the movies. I also can't imagine that you stood there all that time without someone seeing your!!! Just have to laugh cause what else can a person do. Irish ;D
