Congrats, AngelDancer!!
I'm sure all along you've felt like you've been on the rails of the "The Crazy Train" (a la Ozzy Osbourne!), just to win the battle to choose a train ride of victory!!  I can't imagine how difficult things have been for you along the way, but you should be very proud that the judge recognized how you represented yourself!  That does NOT often happen!! I was 46 when I became unable to work and it was probably a year after that when I received acceptance for Social Security benefits and Medicare.  I had 24+ years in Human Resources management and the experience of a friend who had already been through the process & was approved.  State and federal applications for almost anything seem daunting and rarely are user-friendly.  I applied having multiple medical issues, and also before Sjogren's became a named disability under the law as it is now.  I think my background and communications degree served me well and without them, I may not have had success.  But I agree, we must help others if we have maneuvered around the obstacles ourselves. It is almost the same as people speaking another language requiring an interpreter.  Government processes are like attempting to function where you don't know the language!!  If I can help via this or other means, I am happy to do so, although my ability to get out seems increasingly stifled.  Enjoy the ride, AngelDancer!!
