Hi everyone-  I'm back in Dodge with a grin on my face.  None the worse for wear, except being tired.  We were very pleasantly surprised with our trip.  The hotel was very opulent.  (I love that word.)  One of the nicest I've ever stayed, the other nicest ones being on business trips and paid for by the boss.  A lovely pool and pool area.  Decent restaurants at the hotel and little else except at one of the other 3 or 4 casinos.  Not much choice for eating and we ended up eating all our meals at one restaurant.  Ugh, I know, but at least the food was good and reasonable.  No buffets as they were too expensive.

The friends we went with were compatible on the trip.  That's always something I'm leary of.  We've known them for years but have never "gone away" with them.  They were not needy or clingy and we all got along great.  Hubby and I spent a couple of hours one afternoon at the pool area under a table umbrella.  We both went in the water for awhile.  I was careful to stay out of the sun and wear sunscreen.  (This is new to me and not in my nature.)  I drank zero alcohol and that didn't hurt to feel the best I could.  I rested when I needed to, but I can't really sleep away from home.

My "gambling" was mostly penny slots and I didn't lose the family farm.  In fact, I came home with a good chunk of the money I took to spend.  In northern Nevada, there is nothing much to look at.  The background looks like what I see in pictures of Iraq.  Dry, brown and dusty.   We enjoyed our el' cheapo trip and can't wait to do it again.  P.S. My eyes were no worse in the hot, dry climate.  I wore my Panoptx when outside.

Hi Lucy,

I'm glad that your trip went well for you!  It's always good to get away and just relax when you can; and to have decent company traveling with you too, well, that's as good as it gets!

I love the desert and I can't wait to move to the southwest one day when I grow up!

Oh, ugh...........the desert!  Patze, I'll let you have the dry, dirty and dusty place.  Give me water, water and more water.  Being grom the Great Lakes area, I'm a fish.  Lucy

Lucy it sounds like you really enjoyed your trip.  Fabulous!! you deserved it so much.

I'm with you on the dry, dirty and dusty region.  Give me the mountain lakes and streams and forests.  Minus all bugs, especially ticks and spiders. ;D...............................oh yeah! and NO SNAKES.   :D

Take care and I hope you are rested up for another go at it.

Hugs, Pooh

Lucy, Sure sounds like you had a good trip.  Didn't lose much money, didn't get drunk, didn't get food poisoning, came home with the same man and much of your money. :P  Couldn't get any better than that. It is fun to travel and see the different motels/hotels, but I am with you---I need my own bed to sleep good. You deserved to have a good time after that rough several years you had.

Also, I like to visit the dry places but about 1 week is enough and I am ready for the green grass of home. irish ;D

Those of us who live in dry desert climates really appreciate the chance to visit places with a bit of humidity. I really think this climate  I live in is not good for sloggies. But it is not easy to just up and move. We must bloom where we are planted, but water would really help that blooming.

Im in the north of England and, though it is supposed to be summer, we have had so much rain this past week, it is unbelievable. Temperatures have not been very good either - mid '60's maximum, and my joints just donot like it at all.  I need some of your sunshine :)
