Dove sun tan cream

I'm feeling really embarrassed tonight. I'm going on holiday in early September and decided my very white lower legs (due to Raynauds) needed some colour. So, after the shower this past two days I have used some Dove cream that is meant to tan your legs - yeah right! Parts of them are now coffee coloured, and parts are milky white. I look as if I have a combination of tan hosiery and vitiligo ;D

Any ideas how I can get rid of it for Friday, when I will be wearing a beautiful silk dress and light stockings for my niece's wedding?

All suggestions will be considered :)

Hi  :)

My mother used to wear leg make-up. Don't know if you can still get it but it was like foundation for legs. maybe it would tone your legs back together again temporarily. Maybe..................

Take care - Scottie  :)

Geez!

No that's something there!  ??? ??? ::) ::) ;D ;D

Weii  let's see here what about trying bleach, maybe that will help to get the color off.

or the make up for marks and bruises you see on TV with minerals in them, the ones that say cover everything.

Oh! I know use a lot of concealer on them

or you make just have to save your pretty dress for another time and wear pants! >:(

Whatever you wear, just enjoy yaself!

Hi Kathy

If your skin will accept the treatment, try a gentle exfoliation product.

And, if you want to try a fake tanning product again, use a really great moisturiser prior to applying it, and be especially careful around knees and backs of heels where the skin is tougher.

The safest way, though, is to use a spray on leg make-up product.  There are quite a few around, and many are on sale at this time of year.  Good luck  ;D    xx

Morning

Thank you to all for your comments. The skin on my legs is pretty thin, so I have to be really careful. I think I will try a long bubble bath tonight, to see if that helpts.

I showed the offending legs to my mum last night. She howled laughing - said they reminded her of the gravy browning that women used to use on their legs during the war. :D

Kathy, what about wearing some thicker tights?  I got some 3o denier opaque from M and S in a skin tone and they cover a multitude of veins and bumps!  Have a great wedding and hope your niece is still blooming XX Ailsa

Hi Ailsa

I think you and I posted at the same time, so mine went missing! Anyway, thank you for your thoughts.

It occurred to me at work today that lemon has bleaching properties, so after work, I bathes my legs with lemon juice (and showered it all off). The tan is still in the difficult bits, but is 80 per cent better than it was. So, hopefully, I can wear my lovely silk dress.

We haven't heard anything about my niece since the weekend, so hopefully, no news is good news.

I willtry to get some pictures to share with you at the weekend.

Good luck for your daughter's results tomorrow.

I use Loreal Tanning sheets. You can buy them at Wal-Mart or any drug store. They are goof-proof. I always had a nice result and a nice color from them. Not too dark, not too light. Kind of golden pretty tan. Try it! My legs are white because I do not like to be on the sun too much. It is too hot in the South.

Hi Kathy,

So glad to hear that you got most of it off.....you poor thing!  :D

Hi Ailsa

The wedding was lovely. The bride was absolutely bloom, although she seemed to get bigger as the day went on.

The legs were fine. I had been using the lemon juice for three days, and the tan was no longe visible. I felt really nice in my new dress. Hopefully, I will be able to post some photos before too long. Unfortunately, our camera wasn't working properly, so I will have to rely on other people's pictures, but I promise to send some.

I'm shattered today. I had the little ones overnight after the wedding, so that their mum and dad could go to the evening do. They were up very early yesterday. After they went home,we did some chores. Today I took mum to mass, then cooked for 7 of us for Sunday lunch. I should be sorting out holiday clothes now, as we go away next week, but they will have to wait. I'm too tired! Thank goodness we get an extra day off work this week end.

Has Katharine been celebrating her results?

Hugs

Hi Kathy

I'm so glad the wedding went well and your legs didn't let you down.  Good old lemon juice!  Looking forward to seeing the photos.

I'm not surprised you're tired - I felt exhausted just reading what you've done over the past few days.  Can you have a restful day tomorrow on the Bank Holiday?

Where are you going on holiday?  I hope you get some good weather.  We've just had a few days in York, staying in a friend's flat near the Railway Museum.  It was mostly overcast but the sun came out while we were in the Minster and the light through the stained glass windows was a delight.

Take care - Chickpea

Bernice

I love learning about other nation's traditions and can't help but wonder about the "Bank Holiday" just what is the purpose of it exactly. Is it simply self explanatory Banks take a holiday off? Or does EVERYONE?

Thanks for asking, Bernice.  I'm sorry that we lapsed into 'UK' speak without explanations.  Yes, bank holidays are national holidays when traditionally banks and all other businesses closed.  Nowadays most people go shopping - the main leisure activity in this country! - but also spend time with family, do house maintenance, sleep.

I suppose historically they replaced many of the religious holidays in the calendar, such as Whit Sunday/Pentecost in June.  In most of Europe these are still religious holidays but not in the UK.  Apparently we have fewer national holidays than most other countries but it doesn't always seem that way.
