I have been in a bad flare since last Saturday when our sweet pug dog Lilly passed on. She has always been my comforter when I am feeling icky. She has dog Lupus and her little body just could not take any more. Think there was a special bond with our AI illnesses, we both understood each other. The stress of loosing her at the young age of 7 is really take a toll on my health right now.

I am just wondering if any of your pets play a role in your life concerning your SJS or other illnesses. I found Lilly such a warm comfort and she always seemed to know when I was hurting bad.

Kimi Who is missing Lilly a lot.

Ohh, Kimi - so sorry to hear of the loss of your beloved doggie.  You shared a lot and will feel a tremendous loss getting used to life without your Lillie.

We know that stress and heartache are a big trigger for a flare-up, so it is no wonder that you have been suffering physically too. Try to take it as easy as you can over the next couple of weeks, be kind to yourself and give yourself time to be sad.  Sometimes it helps to make a memory book of photos and precious memories to look back on.

Im so sorry,  Just think of your doggy with cute little wings smiling down on you. My pets all give me love and care. They make me laugh and I do swear laughter really make me feel better.

Oh, I hear you.  I have 3 dogs and I adore the bones of them.  They are always there for me, and know when I am down  ;)   So very, very sorry for your loss.  I am sure your pet had a great life with you.

My pets mean the world to me.  I also have 2 horses, and horses are so switched on to your moods and feelings -I think even more so than dogs.  One of my horses is a really cheeky character (he always nips my husband and I swear he laughs when doing it),  but he is gentle and sweet when he knows I need him to be.  My other horse is such a gentleman, whatever the occasion - he is always kind and generous.  But the cheeky one knows to tone it down when necessary.

RIP your little dog.   xx

I am so sorry to hear about your Lily.  I'm sure when she crosses that Rainbow Bridge, she will have lots of friends waiting for her.

I have 2 Australian Shepherds, the Alpha dog is my PoohBear, she will be 10 the end of this month.  Then there is our "airhead" Paddy. :D  Still very much a puppy at 2 1/2 yrs.  They both give us lots love and enjoyment.  However, it's my PoohBear that watches out for me.

She seems to know when my balance and other problems are really rearing their ugly heads.  If I get up from my chair, she will be there right in front of me, blocking Paddy from jumping on me.  When I get to where she is she will match me step for step with her left side touching my leg ever so lightly.  If I start to stagger, she will stop instantly and wait for me to grab her fur.  Then she will continue along side me until I get to where I'm going.  I'm am dreading the day she leaves me, but until then she is my PoohBear.

I am so sorry for your loss, but know that Lily will be in your heart forever.  And don't forget to smile when you remember the great times you had with her.  She will know.  :)

Hugs, love and God Bless,
Pooh

Hi Kimi

I'm so sorry you lost your friend. I haven't had a dog since I was a kid. I never felt responsible enough to look after one but I did have cats and I miss them dearly. The last cats I had were brothers and they both lived till they were 17 and both died of thyroid problems. The house seems very empty without them.

Pets are meant to reduce our stress levels too. Thie deaths are like the deaths of relatives.

Take care - Scottie

Stress will definitely affect your health and well being.

I volunter for a group that helps elderly disabled low income people keep their companion pet. We provide supplemental pet food every month and "spay/neuter, flea control & shots when we have the funds." I know and have seen personally how much people are affected by their animals.
We had the flood in Iowa June 08 and quite a few folks lost everything except a few clothes and their pet(s) so the pets were very very important to their well being. A bunch of us here were "fosters" for pets until the flood victims were able to secure housing.

Studies have shown that people take better care of themselves when they know they have a pet depending on them to stay healthy. Even their mental well being is enhanced. I have cats myself and a coworker (who is only a dog person - very anticat) asked me WHY I had to have cats. I shut her up when I told her that they were alot cheaper tham prozac.  :D ;) ;D  ROFL

So sorry to hear about your little dog passing on. Even though it has been five years now, my husband and I still miss our old Kumo dog, a samoyed. He was such a good buddy. Now we "share" my sister's old Aussie Molly (whose sister Annie died earlier this year) and our daughter's Corgi Claire. It is impossible to put into words how precious their companionship is.

Take care - I hope your flare is not a long one.

((((((((Kimi)))))))) I'm so sorry for the loss of your little Lilly!

I am another animal lover who knows how the loss of one these little family members can affect us so! They truly do bring comfort and unconditional love to our lives and losing them hurts so badly....but Lilly will always  have a special place in your heart (as you will never forget her) and you can take comfort in the fact that she enjoyed her short life with you as much as you enjoyed your life with her!

She is in a better place as I believe all of our little furry friends go to the rainbow bridge and wait for us to one day join them  and while they wait they are not alone...not sick....not afraid. To me that is comforting!

Sending lots of hugs to you...
