Hi, I often have sores on the roof of my mouth and sometimes they are sore, but usually not. The one up there now has been bleeding some. I know there is mention that people with lupus can have them, but  do people with Sjogrens have them also?  Thanks,     Lesley

Hi Lesley, yes I get these from time to time and I'm sero-negative Sjogrens and also have CFS. These canker type sores are caused by dryness and being run down (like we constantly are)  ::)! I use Oracort (you can get it off prescription) which has a steroid in dental paste. You just get a blob of it and press it on with your finger, then the moisture in your mouth(you don't need much) seals it on. It's very good but as it's got steroid in it, it's only recommended to use for 1 week.

Worth a try,

I used to get these long before I was diagnosed.  I now think it was part of Sjs, or the beginning of the disease.  Lucy

Yes, I had those quite a bit the first year of Sjogrens.  I haven't had as much trouble with mouth sores since I started Evoxac.

I *think* Les may have meant Canker (I hope not cancer! LOL) sores ;D And yes, they can definately be a part of this. Sjs is a disease of moisture glands, and there's no where more moisture glandy than in our mouths. My entire life way back even as a kid, before diagnosis, I never remember being without 2-3 ulcers in my mouth at all times, 5-7 was not uncommon. When I felt bad, there would be 12-15 at a time, sometimes for months on end. Sometimes, on the side of my toungue they'd get to be the size of a dime.
There's a variety of things to do for them now. At the time my best options were salt water rinses and campher oil,  :o so usually I just suffered.lol

Yes I have them on roof of mouth and have had sores on gums before and that is painful. I take the vitamin Lysine when I get mouth sores and that helps alot.

Thank you for the replies.   Lesley

Hi Leslie,

I get a lot of canker sores on my gums & cheeks mainly, well the dentist wasn't quite sure, but he said that they most resemble canker sores.  Eh, close enough! ;) :D

I get them too, but not very regularly, so not sure if it is the sjogren's or stress!
