For a long time now (18 months?) I have been having feeling hot from time  to time.  I don't know if it's hot flushes (I;m 49), but for a person who's always been cold (Raynaud's), it's really weird.

I really think my thermostat is broken.  I am either frozen or too hot  ::)

I wake up hot several time per night, and also get over-hot at various times during the day.  It just seems to be from my waist upwards though  ???

When I've taken my temperature, it's around 36.2  ???  It isn't for a short period of time - can last 20 mins to 30 mins or longer.  So is that still a hot flash?

How do I know if it is to do with AI illness or pre  menopause?   xx

PS:  Just taken my temp and I am not even 37 C, am always under or around 36.4.   Weird thing is, if you touch my skin I don't feel hot and I am not perspiring, but I feel like I am absolutely frying.  Weird  ::)

Hi Jaygee,

I am having similar problems.  I rarely have a happy medium temperature...I am either too hot or cold, the coldness I put down to my thyroid conditon and I also get pain in my arms when they are cold.

I am 42 and I also get 'flushes' I assume?, sometimes at night I have this intense heat in my back.  My temperature ranges from 35.9 - 37.3.  I think I may be perimenopausal (my mum had early menopause) as well as my periods have suddenly become erratic.

Oh the joys of womanhood  :'(

Jaygee you could be writing about me here!

I have been like this for years now .   I do not have Raynards tho'

When it first appeared I too thought it was the menopause, but here I am at 72 and still the same!

Today I have been so cold,  the weather here (UK) has been so dull all day,  but the rest of my family said it was not cold!.

Now when I go to bed I will wake up on top of the duvet and will be burning hot..

 It drives me crazy..
When I went to my Doctor she did blood tests , nothing showed up in them, so she left it at that saying I was  just super sensitive to the cold!!   I have

googled and searched for answers , but don't get anything conclusive..    If you do find a remedy please pass it on ..

Hi Jaygee, I have the same thing, mine don't last quite as long, but sometimes as long as 15 minutes, mine are also from the waist up especially the face. I went to the Dr in December (also around the time she sent me to the rheumatologist) and she checked my hormone level and it was only 58. So for me I think it was early menopause, but I have seen many on this sight say theirs is sjogrens. Maybe a combination?? For me it goes in phases too. I may go several days OK and then have days of many hot flashes. Yes Paula, I agree, the joys of womanhood!!  :)
