Song about Autoimmune disease - Rob Thomas

I was truly touched when I found out Rob Thomas' new single "Her Diamonds" is about his wife's struggle with an autoimmune disease.   View the video here: http://www.robthomasmusic.com/  I don't know if she struggles with Sjogren's but I think many of us can relate to the life of good days and bad days, and he says this song was written on a bad day.  Her "diamonds" are her tears, and we all know just how precious tears are.  Hope you all enjoy.

Apparently his wife, Marisol, suffers from a rare autoimmune disease "similar to Lupus". It seems that all of the AIs are "similar" to other, better known, AIs, so I'm sure we can all identify with that description.

Yeah, I haven't been able to figure out which type of autoimmune disease she has.  I'm not sure if they say it's similar to Lupus because it has similar symptoms, or if they just use Lupus as a general example of an autoimmune condition.  In this article from 2007, they mention fevers, hives, seizures, and hair loss.  http://www.people.com/people/archive/article/0,,20160848,00.html

Yes, we don't often hear about people of notoriety having autoimmune conditions although there would be plenty of them! Here in Auckland (New Zealand) there is a CEO govt official Christine Rankin who has Lupus. She's an attractive, feisty, outspoken and controversial lady (known for her assortment of long dangly earrings  ) and she spoke at outdoor venues about living with Autoimmune disease!! She's quite an inspiration 
It would be be great to hear about more of them.

I'm glad to see that he's very sensitive about his his wife's condition, and that they're using it to catapult attention to AI's, that's so neat.
