I wonder if anyone has done any research on childbirth triggering sjs?  Or had that experience?

Hi Jonnell  :)

I don't know about SjS but Hashimoto's quite often seems to occur after childbirth.  I got terrible post natal depression and I often wonder now, if that was the start of things. No one seemed to test then.  I was toatlly unable to put weight on and I wonder if I was hyperthyroid at that time, rather than hypo.

A lot of people get diagnosed round about the same time as menopause, so I wouldn't discount a hormonal link. Howerver - men get SjS - and that can't be hormonal.

Take care - Scottie  :)

Hi i had Glandular fever during my pregnancy and apparently they think it's the epstein barr virus that causes glandular fever that settled into my body causing my immune system to attack that caused my sjs. I also had a liver problem during both my pregnancies called obstetric cholestasis and oetrogen can cause that. When i mentioned that to rheumy she did say that hormones can play a part in sjs. Not main cause but definately play a part xxx

my daughter Jennas sjs was triggered by the epstein barr virus as well

I've had glandular fever twice so don't know why they think it was during my pregnancy that it occured but i certainly have suffered more since that pregnancy. I personally think it all started from the first time i had glandular fever x
