I'll be having a liver biopsy soon since I've had elavated liver enzymyes.  My rhumy suspects autoimmune liver or autoimmune hepatitis.   She sent me to the hepatologist that thought he'd just have an ultrasound arranged first but after the blood tests came back that he ordered he called me and told me they are skipping the ultrasound and going straight to the liver biopsy.    I'm just curious if others have been diagnosed with this and if so what their experiences are.   When I do internet searches it sounds like its not a good thing to have.     I also see that the course of treatment is prednizone.  I really refuse to take that because I can't deal with puffing up.   That will put me over the edge.   Are there other courses of treatment other than prednizone?   Perhaps I have the cart before the horse but I'm obsessing over it and need to have my brain around it.

I don't know anything about a liver biopsy except for what I have read online but I'm sure some others will come by and be able to help you out more in that area.

I do, however, want to wish you good luck during this procedure. I hope all turns out ok...let us know what you find out!

When are you scheduled for the biopsy?
