Often I have to shut the radio off and then the noise of the tires starts to drive me crazy.

This post is so interesting, for about 6 months Ive been putting off going to get tested for sjogrens, all of you know my 4 year old has it.  Ive done a lot of research and I have alot of sjs symptoms dry eyes, lost all my teeth at 26,  depression, severe headaches when out in the heat and sun(have had them since I was little.  I have bad backaches and then after I delivered Jenna this whole Kidney stone problem and the fibroids in the uterus.  I am also dry down below and have skin problems.  But this whole noise thing put the icing on the cake.  I cant stand noise,  TV, radio, people talking at once I thought I was just a weirdo, but it makes me feel all nervous inside.  I dont know whether sjs can run in families but I think I need to get tested just for piece of mind.

Billydude, I often attributed many of my symtoms to age!

Commercials are the worst! But my husband, who is disease-free, mutes commercials the SECOND the show breaks to one. His timing is incredible!

Tinnitus... I think I have it. I have sounds, but they don't emmanate from my ears. It sounds like the sound you get from your computer when you click in a no-click zone! The 'bonk" or the sounds of Law and Order... the "bonk" "bonk", but I usually only get one bonk! The doc is sending me to an ENT even though I do not think it is ear related. Oh well.

I've also lost my taste 3 times. Not this is ONE symptom I wish would come around more often, as I could afford to eat less!

Jonnell...Of course it can run in families.    On research I found one interesting article that said that if you are a parent that has either Sjogrens,  Celiac Disease or Hashimotos that you then pass on the genetic markers that can leave the children of this parent open to any autoimmune disease.   My mother has Celiac Disease.   Of course that was one explanation and it is believed that this is not the sole cause of it and that there are other things that could influence the start of Sjogrens.

Just agreeing with Steve. I have Hashimoto's and lupus/SjS. Now my oldest son has been dxd with ulcerative colitis.

My mother in law had Hashimoto's, pernicious aneamia and osteoporosis. Both my sister in laws now have the same. (Both younger than me.)  My kids don't stand a chance! AI both sides of the family.  I/they are just lucky that the first one has got to 30 before a problem. Both girls have had some kind of arthritis for a while but they are both too pig headed to go see about it!  I guess they will if they suddenly develop overwhelming fatigue.

Just out of interest - who is alive now, who would not have been were it not for modern medicine?  I wouldn't be. I would either have died of apendicitis or numerous mouth and ear infections, only controlled by antibiotics.  Hubby wouldn't have made it through childhood either.

Not surprising really that genes are getting through that would not have if it was still the survival of the fittest.

Take care - Scottie  :)

The family thing, I bet anything my dad has sjs. He is being so umcompliant with his diabetes and HBP that I know he wouldn't bother to get this checked. His complaints over the years are classic sjs. I remember my g-mother (his mom) complaining of dry eyes and mouth and it was written off to her diabetes.
So my dad's symptoms have been written off to his diabetes, a bad car wreck, age (even though he is only 59).

Kirby, this is so weird, because my son who is 13 has a lot of same symptoms as his sister but ive never had him tested because he is a guy, but now I wonder.  It seems like no one in the medical field wants to acknowledge that this disease can be heriditary,  I wonder why that is?

Kirby

ya know, I didn't even think of the likelyhood of my dad having it AND being male. Hmmmm..? I STILL bet he has it! Eben though it is uncommon.

Last year I was becoming aware of becoming heat insensitive,, I used tolove the heat,, I would get up on a saturday moring and spend the whole day outside working in the yard,, now I almost dont dare go outside,, even sitting on the porch if the sun hits my legs with pants on,, I still feel like the sun is laying right on my leg,, its horrible
In July of last year,, and I remember that month because I was writing down symptoms,, both of my feet got very very hot,, they literally felt like they were burning off,, I wasent tottaly heat insensitive yet,, but getting there,, about two weeks later the burning stopped and it left me wiith real sensitive feet, not numb,, just didnt feel right,, had to wear two pair of socks to cushion them,, I was still working then,, then the weirder stuff started,,, the blurred vision,, dryer eyes,, I saw my GP and told him about my feet,, and told me,, well you do ave arthritis in your back,
Now if you have arthritis,, you probably will test positive for RA or something like that,, so like a idiot I believed him,, little did i know that it wouldnt be till 7 months later that I would find out it was periphal neuropathy,, and after tryng IVIG,, Neuroin, 3000 mg of steroids, lyrica,, and nothing can stop it,
I got a copy of the letter to y insurance company (UPMC), that the rheummy sent to them,, telling that in refusing me the rituxim that they were letting my neuropathy progress to the point where I will become permanetly disabled,, IE wheelchair,,
Like I said before,, I dont know if I want the rituxin or not,, it pretty much wipes out the B cells,, leaving me open to more infections,, I wish I never had the sinus to begin with,, that idiot of a ENT that I saw at the beginnn  was knife happy and buchered me  up pretty good,,
well I have wandered off topic,, but yes I am extremely heat insensitive

Hi Scottie,

Nope, I'd have been "offed" at least three times if it weren't for aggressive medical care as a kid.  Yeah, I was ruff and tumble in my youth (for a couple of incidents), and a serious illness to round out the "three" almost's.

Kidlet is lucky, she's not run into anything that would end life as she knows it, and I hope that she never does.
