Hi folks, I just got my IG Living magazine today. This is a magazine that people who get IVIG sign up for and receive free. It is really good and this latest copy is full of information.

Regarding Vitamin D:  There is a new research study done that found evidence of interaaction between vit D and a genetic variant called DRB 1 *1501. It has to do with vitamin D deficiency altering immune response that results in MS. It has to do with DNA binding, etc. This is complicated and as of yet they don't know if vitamin D supplements will make a difference.

Meanwhile they recommend supplements at 200 IU daily for people under 50 years of age and 400 IU for those over 50 years. However, recent research suggests that adults should take 1000 IU a day. So there you have it!!! Words from the experts mouth and they aren't even sure!!!! Soooo, check with your doctor. Remember that this is a vitamin that will build up in your body and can cause side effects if you retain too much of it. Irish ;D

Wow Irish, thanks for the update!  That makes sense as my level never stays high (even taking it once a week for 12 weeks), it always falls very low in between the monthly dosages.

Take care -

Do they say anything about getting vit D from the sun?  Say you live in a very sunny part of the world?
