I'm so clumsy

I fell over, again, today  ::)

We have a step up into the kitchen and I misjudged it and fell really hard, banging my shin and knee causing grazing and bruising.  My 3 dogs ran over to see what had happened.  I admit I cried but only for a moment, as my husband works away and there's nobody to give sympathy to me LOL!.  I fall over too much lately, it doesn't seem to take much to put me off balance.  Usually, my left ankle gives way, but most times I can recover and just stumble rather than fall.  Today I just purely misjudged the step - again!!!

Anyway, I had to get showered and get to work, so no time to do anything about it - just get on with it!.   This evening I have been resting on my settee, which has a huge footstool to rest my legs on.  I just got up to walk to the kitchen for a drink.  Oh oh oh, my shin hurts so much!!  Just because it got to rest for a little this evening, it has really stiffened up - naughty shin!!  But it really, really hurt - much more than it should do!

Pointless thread, as usual, but I know you all do stuff like this sometimes, and it feels better to have a grumble.  So thanks for listening.   xx

Poochie

Aww JG, I hope your boo boo's heal up quickly.  Have you mentioned your balance to your rheumy? or your Primary doctor?  If not, please do.  You may or may not have the beginning of a neuropathy.

I can't tell you how many times I have fallen in the past year.  I have fallen off my front porch down into the tarmack drive.  Out the kitchen into the garage sprawling over the front of my car, tripping over a dog hair ( ::)) or something more minute in the middle of the room.  It doesn't take much for me to go over.

Please mention this to your doctor when you next see him.  It could be nothing or the beginning of something that can be taken care.  :-\

Hugs, Pooh

JG, Poochie is right you know!

Being on your own a lot means that anything could happen when no-ones there..

Please mind how you go,  and moan away , we're so used to it now!

                                                           Hugs Dolly

Thanks guys!

Yeah, Pooh, think I've fallen over a dog hair plenty of times.

Will mention this on my next appointment.  xx

So sorry to hear about your fall!  I feel like my muscle control is crud sometimes, too.  I'm super cautious on stairs, because I also misjudge steps.  My hands are the worst, though.  I drop everything!!!  I think I've got it, and then I just don't.

I'm so clumsy too and I know it's my neuropathy.  I fell bending too far forward and went down thump right onto my rump/tailbone.  Just what I needed.  My burning is just through the roof.  I seriously contemplate swallowing a bunch of pills each night.  I cannot get pain under control.  Nothing works and my doctors could care less.  I feel pins/needles vibration all thru my spine and my hands and feet/arms are on total fire.  Lidoderm patches don't even take it all away.

I broke down and called neurology after hours last night (11:30pm), when I was on the verge of just losing it.  She was p***** I called so late.  I said I can't get into see you until Aug. and nursing won't advise.  She said I had multiple meds and no chart in front of her and always fought with these 'widespread' pains.  I informed her that I now had Sjs and that I'd been in the hosp. for 4 days on steroids, but once home was struggling pain-wise.  She said well if steroids weren't helping, she sure wasn't sure what would, and wasn't quite sure that Sjs played much role.  I wanted to read her the riot act about small fiber neuropathy and if someone/rheumy/PC/any god-da**  physician would listen and educate themself, maybe they could see it in their tiny heart to step up the immunosuppression with me.  Instead they write me off as a whiner.  Plaquinel and Imuran are just not enough for me.  They helped the knee joints, but did not touch the unrelenting nerve crap which has been my primary complaint for 11 years.

Hoping to survive tonight.  I'm tired of ERs they don't get it either.  Narcotics just don't work.  Ice packs all frickin' night and a lot of praying/pleading with God.  And Valium.  Nortriptyline works at helping me fall asleep, but within an hour the burning breaks thru and wakes me up when I'm so sleepy.

Wow, so sorry for your fall.  Yesterday was my day for being clumsy so I can understand How you feel.  Thanks goodness my son's dog was here because I let him eat the paper plate of rice that I dropped on the kitchen floor.  He thought he was in heaven and I thought to myself, "What a klutz I am".  Just hang in there.  Hugs to better days. Hi Jaygee,

So sorry for your fall....I just went through that a couple of weeks ago when I misjudged the front porch step and I know how it hurts!!! I asked for people's sympathy here because it made me feel better.... ;D...so I will do the same for you...I give you all the sympathy you want!!

Seriously, I hope you feel better.....ice packs helped me.....maybe it will also help you!

Hoping,

I can see the frustration in your post...if you aren't getting the care you need.....can you try another neuro? You are not a whiner...you are in pain and deserve to be seen, taken seriously, and treated.....and if one doc cant do that...move on to another until you find one who will listen and try to help you. Hang in there...we are here if you have any questions or want to vent....and let us know if you find out anything new that helps you!

I have a stair fetish....I apparently like to hug them...haven't graduated to dog hair as of

yet but sure it wont be long....but I think part of that is my knee going out on me..and

the swimming head thing at times. I hope no major injuries.

Sorry to hear you hurt yourself.   Hope you feel better soon.  Maybe you aren't clumsy.
Maybe you should ask your Dr to check you for foot drop.  I used to fall a lot too and it was always my ankle that gave out.  I had an EMG because I was losing sensation in my right foot and they found that my muscle had died and that I had drop foot.  Now I have a leg brace and it helps me stay upright.  I still have a lot of trouble walking on uneven ground.  But I can get around.  I also have Peripheral Neuropathy, which can be very painful if I walk for a distance.   I tried Lyrica but could not tolerate it.
Take care from Jules
