hi all

ive just received my whole yearly panel of blood tests.  All were the same except one, the SCL-70 test (scleroderma).  It usually comes back negative but has now come back equivical???   I do not have any symptoms of Scleroderma apart from very bad reynauds but now i am worried that it maybe an indicator of this disease developing.  Is it usual to have primary sjogrens (diagnoised with Positive ana, RF and SSA antibodies) and then develop Scleroderma.  Sorry to be a pain but i am a little concerned and should i be retested???

I think the best thing you can do is to ask to go over your blood test results with your doctor. Voice your concerns. It may be something to monitor - but whoever ordered the tests should do that anyway.

It's not 'usual' to have sjogren's and then to develop scleroderma. Most sjoggies won't. It is certainly possible to develop it because having SjS doesn't stop us getting other things any more than it makes getting other things inevitable. It's unfortunately not unusual to have more than one autoimmune disease at a time but there is a big range of them.

I'd tell your doc that you're concerned and have him go over those results with you.
