Paracetamol

Is it safe to take paracetamol fairly regularly?  I am taking it once, maybe twice a day... I take two usually in the morning and then some more sometimes in the evening.. I have pain in my neck/jaw area on one side that wont go away... it feels like some glands have swollen up and causing me pain (if there are any in that area).

My advice to you is to have the pain checked out by your doctor first. If its a pain that wont go away and you re having to take that much pain reliever every day for some time.....I think your physician needs to be involved. He/she can then see what the problem is first and then let you know if its ok to take the medicine as you are taking it or refer you on if there is another problem that needs to be dealt with by a someone else.

Hi I agree with above, but just so you know, my rheumy told me if you took 2 paracetamol 4 times day every day for the rest of your life you'd be fine!!

My GP doesnt seem to listen much... I saw her last week.. and for kidney pain she told me to do yoga!!! LOL  Oh well, I am keeping a symptom diary so will show it all to the Rheumy in August when I see him.  I am making notes of every medication I take.  I am not yet diagnosed to not on any treatment and not being taken too seriously...

I'm prescribed (2) 500mg paracetamol 4 times a day and 1 slow release 100mg Tramadol twice a day. I've been taking this mix for 3 and a half years now.

The symptom diary is a good idea but I agree with the others - you need to know what's causing the pain. Is there a possibility of seeing a different GP within your practice? A second opinion might be helpful!
