No idea but I have lost my appetite and lost 1 1/2 stone in eight months with no diagnosis yet.

This will be long, for months and months I complained about my stomach,, slowing down, now its pretty uch  stopped oving food through,, I cant go to the bathroomnow without drining a bottle of citrate,, they did bloodwork on me,, and of course all the basic stuff is fine,, I saw my GP yesterday,,, I told him bascially I;m getting worse,, this steroid thing had no effect,, in fact it made it worse,, my legs are pretty much useless,, Il;m numb around the saddle area,, my spine is on fire,, and icalled the neuro this morning,, told her all about this,, and she said,, I have nothing more to offer you,, I wanted to cry,, I am staggering around like some kind of nut,, was outside for a bit today,, my body temp rose to 104,, thought I was going to pass out,, I told the neuro all this,, and told her I thik my autonomic nervous system is affected,, she said,, i dont hink so,, ok doc,, if you say so, my sys sight is getting blurrier and I should not be driving a car at all now,, I cant feel anything,, well anyway,, back to the GP, I told him,, Listen I have to go back to work monday,, he said you cant,, you wil either collaspe or die,, your heart may stop if this is a autonomic condition,, he said I;ll help you with paperwork for disibility,, I got Pi&&ed,, where the heck where you at 6 months ago,, even my rheummy siad you cant work,, ok,, and where were you at,, then the neuro said today,, I; be willing to help you get disibility, ok doc,, so what do I do for income till I get it,, my work called and said I have to pass a work physical before they even consider letting me work
Either God has it really out for me,, or I ave had the misfortune of running across the most inept doctors alive,, My ENT wrote a letter to my Rheuummy,, saiyin he thinks I should go out of network,, and would be willling to help me in that regard,, now Ilm no idiot,,  I dont for one minute believe thers some magic pill out there thats going to make some of this beaarable, they have the same drgus out there as they do here,, my stomach is becomng wworrisome,, I am down to 130 lbs,, down from 145 in two weeks,, I jut cant eat,, noting moves,, and I sure cant live on citrate,,

I would assume with dry mouth it would affect how things taste. So you might eat less.

I am hoping that is not the case for me as I am not a very big eater. I mostly have to tell myself, lunchtime or suppertime - go eat!  My coworkers are all on "diets" and I don't anyone that has trouble gaining weight.

Hi All,
I have the same problem but has improved lots as far as the digestion part but am still skinny.  I use Eat Right 4 Your Type.  Diet & not medicine will help digestion problems.  The meds just treat symptoms, not the cause.  also, they have many BAD side effects.  Google Dr. Peter D'Adamo & just do some reading, it is interesting.

My whole life was spent losing and gaining the same 20lbs. give or take.Neurontin,Elavil,Cymbalta, the Lyrica over the yrs. didn't help.I had a really bad reaction to the Lyrica that wasn't caught until I lost 40lb. over a 6mo.period and was so sick I insisted someone figure it out.I haven't regained any of it and lost a few more. It's been 2yrs. now and I have to make an effort to get enough calories in.I don't enjoy food anymore something I can't even imagine happening to me.My new Rhuemy said because of such dry mouth I can't taste very well and food tastes have changed because of the dryness too. That makes sense and I'm not unhappy to not be overweight.I'm overjoyed to not have that extra problem anymore but I do have to make sure I keep my weight high enough because when I get sick it's difficult to bounce back when your so underweight.

Hi Ruby,
I really understand that !  I have the same problem.  I have a good appetite, since following this diet & avoiding food intolerance, the nausea, feeling of fullness long after eating & reflux has greatly improved or disappeared.  My arthritis is not bothering me too.  I just wish I could put on 10#'s but because I'm eating low fat protein & very low carbs, it is very difficult.  Also, following the diet is supposed to put you @ your ideal weight.  This could be why I'm holding steady now even though I eat bigger than the recommended serving portions.

I think the meds you have to take is causing a vicious cycle of damaging your digestive tract, which flares your autoimmune disease.  I know you have no choice because the pain is too much.  What I would suggest is doing the diet along w/ your meds.  This can improve your digestion & could then lead to lower doses & frequency of the meds which will give your digestion time to heal.   What have you got to lose by trying it ?  My doctor who is nutritionally trained was all for me doing this.

Let me know if you want further info on this fantastic way of eating.

I have lost around 30 - 35 lbs, went from size 12 to a size 6.  Guess it didn't hurt me to lose a few pounds, but it is sorta scary when you keep losing and the Drs can't tell you why.  I am a sweet freak and do not watch my calories.  My weight has seemed to level off, but still don't know why.

Dear Watoozie,
We are in the same boat !  Look up the diet, try it.  I think it has helped me level off on my weight loss I too went from a size 8 which for my 4'11" frame was a little too much.  I would be perfect not too skinny @ 118.  I am now only 105 & really would love to gain back @ least 10#'s.  I am not too concerned though because I feel TONS better.  Google the Eat Right 4 Your type, it's worth the read or borrow the book from the library, I thought the science behind the whole concept was fascinating.  It is why I eat this way, for me it makes perfect sense.

Thanks jdryer for the tip.I'm not on any of those meds anymore thank goodness.I believe I've heard something about this diet and didn't really consider it could pertain to me.Making an effort to eat now is so different. To feel my best paying attention to what I eat should really make a big difference.I'll look it up and get back to you if I have questions. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

yup ive lost alot this year, been a stable size 14 for years, now size 12`s were  getting really loose , and im usualy i big eater, now i dont care so much for it.

jdryer...on that diet i found eating nuts. brazils, cashews, almonds   thats if your not allergic to them helpful in good protien and fats which were allowed on my diet, that seems to have helped stave off losing any more weight, i just snack on them and seems to work.  Hope that helps

I just made a post and then saw this one about weight loss.  It just took me 3 months of tests and seeing a gastroenterologist to find out I have gastroparesis which I think means nerve damage to my stomach.  My stomach does not digest food in a timely manner.  I had a gastric emptying study which was abnormal.  I lost 30 pounds.  I have to change my diet and try to maintain my weight with small frequent meals.  The Rheumatologist said this is a complication of Sjogren's.  The gastric emptying study was interesting.  I had to eat a radioactive egg salad sandwich wearing surgical gloves.  They asked me to be careful and not spill any on the floor or they would have to call the hazmat team.  And I'm thinking "I can swallow this sandwich but I can't touch it or spill it on the floor?"  My throat was sore for three days.
