then he want to send me to mayos or marshfield for a work up

with each week that goes by i get sicker and sicker

argh

i just want some treatment for the symptoms i dont care about a dx

Chickpea

Hi Jas

You sound pretty low, and I think I can understand why.  Your GP is giving you mixed messages: on one hand he says your symptoms are  because of the stress of your mum passing away; and then he says he wants you to go to a specialist clinic for a full work up.  What are you supposed to think?

We all get to the point where we don't care about a diagnosis but just want someone to deal with the symptoms.  Limboland is a very lonely place but we've all been there, or are still there, so this is a good place to come and share your feelings.

Tell us more about your symptoms at the moment and what treatment you've been offered, or meds you've tried.

Thinking of you - Chickpea

Hi Jas

I totally understand you wanting your symptoms treated. I think your doctor is being unreasonable not to. He could be right that things are worse at the moment because of your recent bereavement. Stress tends to make symptoms flare alarmingly. The symptoms should still be dealt with.

I hope you find some relief soon.

Take care - Scottie

I can sympathize - I am in the same boat as you - dry eyes and mouth and no diagnosis - I had all the SJS tests done - and I am negative - so where does that leave me -  well the same treatment plan if
I did have it - evovac

arrgggh that is irritating! Dr's should know by now that stress doesn't *cause* you have an autoimmune disease, but if you have an AI and you get stressed it aggravates it. SO if your mom passed (and I'm sorry to hear that) it would make sense that you'd go into a flare up, why don't they get it  ???

No one should ever feel like they are married to their doctor.  I just dump mine and found a much better one, but it is a pain in the a$$.

yes grief isnt nice, and yes it stresses you , and yes stress can flare up symptoms no end, but its not the cause, if your not happpy with your care, vote with your feet, and find another docotr, end of day ive seen ppl get rhrough some shocking sitiations, but cant say i ever seen it cause all that!

Now there isnt one of us here that not been written off as a hypochondriac/ hysterical/stresssed/ mentally ill     ... its not a nice place to be, but one doctor is not them all, and your as epson said, not married to that doc, and can get a second opinion, if your in US reading tohers posts, you can seek out a rheumatologist on your own, and an opthomolist, we need a referal from GP in UK, even if going private, dont accept this nonsense , sure grief wont be helping your mood, or symptoms, but it aint causing then !

Good grief!

Sometimes divorce isn't a bad thing.  It could be time to move on to a new relationship.

I know how you feel.  This kind of attitude has happened to so many of us!..and it absolutely wears me out!  It can take years to build trust and rapport with a new doctor.

Sorry about your mom, sweetheart.  To top it off, you can't call her and talk it over.  I'm glad you came here.

So i decided to go back to my family doctor nearby instead of the gp i had been seeing

he was my moms doctor and knows that she had AI problems so he thinks its more likely there is somthing to it
he first is sending me to an interist to get his opinion and some clean blood work done
then depending on how that goes he is going to send me to a rhumy and and opthomologist
maybe and endorcrendologist for my thryoid

all here in town he does not feel going to mayos would help anything other than cause more problems

main symptoms are dry eyes dry mouth and now anxiety for some reason probably related to thyroid
he thought that it was odd that the other doctor told me to stop taking the synthroid
he is conserned by the 25lbs i have lost in  a month and a half

do you think he seems to be going at it better?

Scottietottie

Hi Jas  :)

It sounds to me as though he's better and also has a plan of action. You definitely need the thyroid sorted out. It's possible that you've swung from hypo to hyper. That would cause weight loss and anxiety and could be why you were taken off synthroid but you need to see an endocrinologist to get that sorted out.

It does sound as though this doc is prepared to address your symptoms and that has to be helpful!   I hope you get the answers you need soon.

Take care - Scottie  :)
