Eye Update

Just got back from the low vision specialist because of a swollen eye lid for more than a week.  Apparently I have a stye and a bacterial infection.  Two weeks of oral antibiotics plus antibiotic drops in the eyes.  And a hot rice pak 3 times a day.  So I'm off to find a clean sock and a cup of rice.  Asked the nurse if this was because of the Sjogren's and she said no, it is because of the medications that I take for Sjogren's that lower my immune system.  And that they have given me a refill of the antibiiotics because it will probably come back again at some point.

Visited my rhuemy last week and everything was going well.  Did bloodwork and I haven't heard back.  Wonder if this infection will make that turn out bad.  Lowered my prednisone from 2MG to 1MG and I've started back on the Fortical to help with the bones.  Can hardly wait to see the gyno this afternoon but don't expect any problems there.

I consider myself lucky, I could be like my dad who had sinus surgery last week and has been suffering a lot since.

Lighthouse,   Sorry to hear about your dad,  thoughts and prayers are with you and him.   My oldest daughter 16 gets stys a lot the doctor said it was from sharing makeup.   I know they are painful and a lot of times they come back after a week.   I know the warm compresses helped her.   Hugs and Kisses   Jonnell and Jenna

A funny thing happened at the gyno visit today. Okay, maybe not so funny.  The nurse and I are going over my medications and she says 5000IU Vitamin D back in January. And I said "WHAT!, I didn't take that!"  Just assumed that they had the wrong medication with the wrong patient.  So then the doc comes in and at the end he says to his personal nurse make sure that you send the Vitamin D prescription over to the pharmacy and make sure it gets there.  Apparently I am D deficiient (he couldn't find it to tell me how much) and no one ever notified me of this and it never got sent to the pharmacy.  I have to take it once a week for 12 weeks.  I had blood work done before my surgery and i bet they ran the test then.  Maybe this is one of the reasons I've been so tired, achy joints etc.

Wow - that's NOT funny!! I hope now that you've got it it will make a world of difference. It would be so nice if it did. I hope the sty goes soon and doesn't make a comeback either.
