Hi Richard, welcome from me, too...you, Jonnell and Jenna now qualify for the family membership!

It's always truly wonderful to meet a partner (and we have some others who will no doubt introduce themselves) who is concerned and willing to learn all that they can in order to support their spouse or child (to-be in this case).

Hi Richard,

I haven't posted much in recent weeks, so I'm catching up on Jonell and Jenna.  How wonderful that you want to join our group and see what's going on.  It's so important that a partner/parent have as much information as they can to understand what their loved one(s) are going through and to understand the changes in their own lives.

Welcome and Great Job! ;D

Hi Richard!

Welcome to Sjogrens World!

Its so important that people have a good support system when they have sjogrens or any of many other medical diagnosis. It's wonderful that you joined in here to meet us and show your support for Jonnell and Jenna!

They are lucky to have you...and we are lucky to have all 3 of you join in our family here!

Hi Richard

Good to meet you.  Jonnell's told us lots about you - all good! Sounds like you're doing a great job loving and supporting both Jonnell and little Jenna.  We've got to know them and love them too.

One of the best ways of supporting Jonnell is one of the easiest in many ways, and I know you're already doing it:  just listen.  There will be days when she's overwhelmed with worry about Jenna, or exhausted by taking care of her, and will just need to offload.  Even if the house is a mess and dinner's not ready, the most important things are simply a hug and a chat.

Let us know how things are with you all.  And take good care of yourself too because it's exhausting being a carer, and a carer of a carer!

Thinking of you all - Chickpea

Thanks guys for your warm welcome for Rick.  He is such a gentle and caring man.  The support Jenna and I get from him is amazing.  I call him my angel because I believe that God sent him to me to love me and get me thru these trying times.   Hugs and Kisses   Jonnell and Jenna

Richard, Welcome to this site. It is great that you are willing and able to join us and see what we are all about. Also, lots of info to read if you ever get bored. ::)

You have joined the band of men who are behind us (also the band of women behind the men with sjogrens) and most of them choose to remain off the computer. It is really great that you are willing and able to support Jonnell and Jenna---a lot of the men in our lives got to live through the whole darn ordeal from the beginning of our illnesses to the present. Love, support and understanding are really necessary.

I also advise (I'm old!!!) talking less when things get a little heavy and stressful. My hubby and I are married 44+ years and both have health issues (both of us have autoimmune diseases) and we have learned that sometimes it is better for the marriage to just not talk or talk less. Talk is great but when feeling ill and short tempered and sick of the whole shooting match ones brain and soul need some down time. Good luck to you three. Irish ;D

being a dad just isnt genetics, its about being  there, supporting, caring and giving stable love, anyone can be a father, but it takes a real man to be a dad, too much emphasis placed on genetics, and not enough on the actual role itself, there are fathers out these how walk off and to nothing, id say jenna got a "dad" in you, and i for one think thats bottom line what counts.

ive not spoken to my father in 22 years, but i have a stepdad, who puts time in to my kids, he IS their grandad, and no one in my house cares about the genetics in the least, youve have two very angry boys if anyone suggested he wasnt their grandad, for the man has given more to them than most genetic grandfathers ever do, once a year he takes them away for a week, they do boys stuff, walking, hiking, fishing, and my two sons adore him, now thats IS a grandad, and you ARE jenna`s dad, simple as that!
