Orange Tongue with SS?

This may be an odd question to post but I wonder if anyone out there with SS have ever experienced having an orange color coating on the top of your tongue?  No doctor has never been able to tell me what mine is (cultured it and it was negative).  It comes and goes, but I believe it is related to my oral drynesss .. but then again maybe I am crazy.  I drink one small cup of coffee a day and gave it up for a couple of months to see if it made a difference, and it still came and went in its unpredicable pattern.  I have had it for about a year (since my other SS/CNS symptoms developed). 

Let me know if anyone has.

Welcome to this forum.

I get a yucking coating on my tongue at times, but not orange.

I use a tongue scrapper after I brush sometimes, I believe it also helps with the oder that might occur with yucky tongue stuff.

You can find tongue scrappers in the oral hygiene section in most stores.

I good perio rinse is also good to use after brushing, flossing and scrapping tongue.

And yes , I think this is a sjoggie issue.

Nope - I can't say I've ever had an orange tongue. I reckon that's a question for a dentist! I don't know if its related to SjS or not. I don't remember ever having read about it. Having SjS doesn't stop other things cropping up.

If you do ask your dentist - do please let us know the answer!

Yes, I have had that on and off for a few years.  Funny, I thought it was related to coffee as I have only become a coffee drinker a few years ago.  Wonder if it is a Sjs thing too.

I cant say that I have ever experienced this...but I would be interested to know what the dentist or doctor says about it if they figure it out!

  Hi,   Oral dryness is one of my worst symptoms, but I have never had the green tongue!
     
I try to only have one coffee a day, as I find my tongue gets coated white , I brush my tongue with soft toothbrush & Aloe Vera toothpaste from a health shop.
   three times a day after meals, and before bed..

   The toothpaste does not  contain any sulphate laureate, which I have read can cause reactions in some people, and dont use mouth wash containing alcohol.
       Try to chew sugar free gum which helps clean  the mouth .. I use Biotene Oral Balance at bed time.. 
                   
                Some medications can discolour mouth, but guess your Doc will have ruled that out..

Hi agreenchance,

I've also not heard of it, but then all I get is the occasional white tongue - a little scrubbing, and it's gone.  If you scrub it off, do you find that your tongue hurts (or is sensitvie after?).

Like the others said, I'd see your dentist about it.  I know the dentist I see is not that familiar with SJS, but he's given me some great tips about the gums and tongue.
