Darn it, another tooth problem!

It's the middle of the night here and the whole lower right side of my jaw is pulsating and stabbing and shooting in my ear. I did call my dentist today to see if he could tell if this is a tooth problem or if something is wrong with my jaw or what, I could not tell. It does not feel like one particular tooth or anything. So he got me right in this morning and took some xrays, he thinks it most likely is a tooth that had a previous root canal and crown done by my old dentist 7 years ago has failed. So I am upset because he says that I need to see an endodontist and if he can't save it, I must get it PULLED out and have an implant. I don't mean to sound like a crybaby, and I know teeth are not a big deal to a lot of people, but I had always had the nicest straightest white teeth with no cavities almost my whole life until sjogren's came along. I guess it's more a vanity or pride thing that they have been going bad on me but it still makes me sad
He gave me antibiotics and pain pills, of which I just took a second, so hopefully soon it will calm down.

I find that pain in the head, and mouth are the hardest to deal with. The meditation to block that pain takes the longest time to take effect. I personally have chosen to go with out implants because of cost and now after 55 years my mouth feels like my teeth fit. As a child I had my eye teeth pulled because the protruded over my lower lip and there was no room for the other teeth to come in. I also had some teeth pulled from my lower jaw because of lack of room. Now with 6 molars pulled my mouth is so much more comfortable.

You are not a cry baby.  I, too, had nice, white, straight teeth.  Now, they aren't as white and they are so sensitive.  It is just another area we have to do the best we can and accept the rest.

oral pain is intense.

I too like joe had no room and had healthy teeth pulled and braces, boy was it sore wheh they got tightned monthly!!

Now after sicca symptoms undiangosed for years by teeth are beginning to go, after years of work to straighten them and make room for them, but white teth im afraid are not strong teeth, my uncle had very yellow teeth and at 56 when he died not a cavity, mines have never been prefect white, but im told thats good, for theyre stronger and wont rot as fast.

Im sorry youve had this pain, my father had a bad abcess last year, with diabetes, vitilligo, heart problems, bp problems, he never complains much and is very anti drugs, he was in that much pain awaiting a dentist, he phoned and asked me if i knew anyone who sold cocaine!!  said next day he was sorry, and must have been out of his mind, but he said it was like no pain he has ever expereinced, hope they sort the pain out soon, and sorry about your teeth, i know im vain about my teeth, now theyre beginning to go, i cant say im happy about it either

I completely understand how terrible this feels both physically and EMOTIONALLY!...and just wait till it hits your wallet!

My thing that I cry about from Sjogren's is my hair loss.  I used to have thick glossy red hair...in less than a year it became thin straw that I now have to dye red.  It's tough to feel poorly and then have your physical asset start to fall apart too.

I can relate and feel your pain!  The hospital took care of tooth #15 when they tried to intubate me for back surgery.  I looked like I went 5 rounds with Might Tyson, fat lips and cuts in my mouth, not to mention a tooth that was sensitive.  Four month later it broke in half when I was in the hospital for bladder surgery, great timing.

I have surging pain in my right butt cheek, the doctor think it is from the $1,600.00 I had to shell out for the root canal and crown that use to be in my wallet and is now in his bank account, but if I had to choose between having all my teeth pulled or having my bladder remove because of cancer, the teeth would have to go every time.

If there's anything worse than dental issues, someone please tell me!  I, too, hate the dentist (nothing personal) and abhor dental pain.  Call me a wuss or whatever, but I'd rather have the pain from childbirth than a dental procedure.

You're not alone in your frustration or pain.  I can wholeheartedly identify with what you're feeling.

He has "referred pain" in his right butt cheek from MY root canal!

Well thanks, what a difference a day ( and 4 hours of sleep) make 
And while I don't have the butt cheek pain yet (lol Epson) I am experiencing anxiety related to the hub's future butt cheek pain.
If repairing the root canal doesn't work and it fails, that will be a ginormous waste, and the extraction and implant is sure to cost a pretty penny

I can REALLY sympathize!!    Up until when my "stuff problem" started in about 1997 I had about 4 cavaties up until then. In the last 10 years I have had at least 25.  I swear my dentist thought I didn't know what a toothbrush was!!  I've been doing all that I can but still get 2-4 cavaties per year.   I had a tooth decay from the inside out last year (front one of course) so had to get a bridge for it.

I never had a problem with my teeth until this SJS durn stuff came up. I can now blame it on SJS but that doesn't solve anyone's problem of tooth decay.

Well I too feel your pain. May the 13th is the date to get rid of all of my lower teeth. After putting tons of money in my mouth trying to save them. Vain yea I am.  I'm just 49 yrs old  and dentures. YUCK. I am going to do the dental implants to hold the denture in place anybody have these? My dentist. says it will be fine. Of course he has his REAL teeth. My health insurance will not touch the cost even though it is a health issues. I know it could be so much worst.  thanks for letting me vent
