Amount of fatigue and time of month...

Hi,

Does any one else find that their level of fatigue depends on where in their monthly cycle they are?  I find that on the approach to my period, the fatigue lifts somewhat, and though I'm not well, it's not the all-encompassing fatigue that I starts up again within a day or two of my period starting...

Then I have a week or two of real hard going and then things lift again - as my period approaches...

I have noticed this! I thought everyone did it! Yet another one of the SS symptoms that I have had for years!
I usually get very VERY fatigued about a week before. May last 2-3days.
All of my symptoms got worse after I was pregnant.

7-10 days before my period starts, my body goes into all kinds of weirdness.  My exhaustion level increases, I get panic attacks, and hot flashes.  I have Graves also so I don't know if my symptoms are due to that or the Sjogrens.  I tend to think hormonal changes exacerbate autoimmune issues.  I got diagnosed with Graves after my first pregnancy, Sjogrens after my second this past October.  Whoever thought being a woman would be this tough? LOL

I have also had hot flashes for years and I am only 36 now! Usually it is during my period.  This month I have had some HORRIBLE mood issues at weird times in the month---so that may just be cause I have alot going on.

Kirsten...remember that the hot flashes can be an aspect of Sjogrens.   I'm a man and I have the hot flashes as well and its because our autonomic theromostat is whacked out.
I'm also having extreme fatigue.   I woke up this moring and ate breakfast then went back to bed and slept till amost noon then had to take another nap later this afternoon.   This fatique and sleepiness is overwhelming!!!!

TOM always sends me into a flare (fatigue, pain, nausea), most of the time just little ones but I've had some doozies.

Well I thought I was done with all the "hot flash" stuff back in 2004 when I quit. I never ever had a problem with them.  A couple weeks ago I had a terrible time for a whole week with them which is very unusual for me. :o

I saw my dr who said  he didn't think it was SJS related but around that time of the month and welcome to menopause. Geesh. I'd have to have em when it is 90 and humid out!  :P  I also have been having some achey lower back problems especitally when I sit for 1 to 1-1/2 hrs and then get up. It is like my my muscles there tighten up. After I get up and walk around a bit, it is ok but I sit down a long while and it starts again. I got a couple xrays, blood test and will see a therapist about trying to get my back stronger. I guess the last 5 years of having a job where I sit all the time has caught up with me.

I used to have severe symptoms for about a week before my period and you could feel it getting worse then improving. After complaining to my Dr for a couple of years I told my Gyn that it was obvious that it was my hormones. He said of course it is!  He put me on birth control pills every day. No period now for a year and it has made a huge difference!  I still have hot flashes daily but I don't have the severe fatigue and muscle pain monthly. Don't get me wrong, I still have the symptoms it is just milder and consistent. hope this helps someone!!!
