Any difference between Plaquenil and the generic Hydroxychloroquine

Has anyone experienced a difference between Plaquenil and the generic (Hydroxychloroquine?)  I am on the generic (can't afford the real thing) do know the compounds are the same its just the fillers and binders that differ. Just curious

Hi Patzi,

I am on the generic Hydroxychloroquine Sulfate and it has helped me tremondously, I don't have any problems with it, but I have heard that sometimes if you have a lot of GI issues with it (upset tummy, gas, etc...) the name brand might not give you as much trouble if you switch.  As I said, I haven't had any trouble so am going with the less expensive drug.

I am on generic also - for two months plus now and it has helped quite a bit!!!  Little bit of problems with gas, but getting better over time.  Good Luck to you - hope it helps you as well!

I also take generic Plaquenil and as a result I now have generic Sjogren's!

I too use the generic, and yep, it bugs the heck out of my stomach unless I take it with food - usually take it with a meal.
