Evoxac Does it upset anyone's stomach?????

I think I've asked this before but can't remember if I got very many responses.  Does anyone get stomach upset from Evoxac and do you all take it on an empty stomach?  I do take mine on an empty stomach because I need the full effect and as much saliva stimulation as possible.  I take 40 mg of Prilosec but I still wonder if the Evoxac causes some GERD issues.  But, it would be odd if I'm the only one.

Thanks for any input.

Thanks, Epson.  I'm glad you responded because I've been thinking of you.  Where are you with your treatments?  Are you tolerating them ok?  You are taking chemo for the recurrent bladder cancer, right?  Let me know how you are.

Hi,how are you?I do take it on an empty stomach.I'm supposed to take three a day but I take two.If I take it before supper I can't eat.It causes me to have little hot sweaty flashes too.The Dr. says that means it's working right and I agreed but she said two was ok.Late afternoon I sometimes get so dry so I end up taking it anyway .

Anna,

Thanks for asking, all done with the chemo, so now it's on to new problems.  The nightmare never ends, once you get rid of Freddy Kruger, Jason shows up with a chain saw.  Now it's extreme fatigue and chest pains under little physical exertion, almost feels like my heart is going to beat through my chest cavity.  Isn't life beautiful ;D

Epson,

I know, it seems it is always something.  I'm sure you don't need my two cents, but please get your heart checked out....

Hi, Ruby.  Yes, I sweat with it too.  Yuk.  So, it does not bother your stomach either????  I think the Sjogrens has just done a number on my stomach.

Geeze Epson!

That thumping chest thing still paining you?!

Silly me, I assumed they would fix that one right away with a tiny pill of some sort.

Sorry to hear this!

Yes it upsets my stomach and I don't know what else to do but put up with it.Evoxac helps make saliva so I don't see myself going off it.

Ruby,

So it does upset your stomach.  I know it is not an option to go without.  I was miserable until I started the Evoxac.  It got to the point that I could not swallow food and had mouth sores.  I guess it is a trade off.  Oh for the days when we just took saliva for granted.

It is strange but in the mornings I do fine, evening it does upset my stomach.  But same as you I will not go off of it, I am so very dry without it I can't even talk.

Cricket,

I do fine with my morning dose but it is usually the lunch dose that bothers my stomach and then the evening dose not too bad.  I know, I could not talk without the Evoxac.  I got hit hard in the dryness dept.  It is interesting that even though dry eyes and mouth are the hallmark symptoms of Sjogrens, I don't see as many people complain in that area as some of the rest.

Thanks for responding.  As you can see, not that many people responded.

Anna,
I always take Evoxac with something to eat.  My doctor told me to take it that way to avoid an upset stomach.  I take it twice a day and have been doing so since 2002.  No problems with stomach.  Also, the sweating will stop when you've been on it for awhile.  That happened to me, too, but no more.
Thank God for Evoxac!

Tina,

Do you feel it works as well with food in your stomach?  I've read that the absorption is less with food thus does not work as well.

Anna, Yes, it works just fine.  The rheum. who first prescribed it for me, said to take it before or after eating to avoid an upset stomach.  So I've been taking it that way for 7 years from the time I was first diagnosed with Sjogrens.  I started taking it 3 times a day at first (the prescribed dosage), and was able to cut back to 2 times a day after a few years.
No problem!

Anna---I realized that I really didn't answer your question!  Dah.  Yes, I feel Evoxac is very effective even when taken with food.
