Hi everyone.  I hope you don't mind my posting things I find that may pertain to all of us.  I've been in a huge depression lately about my health  and have been searching for good news (I know, I'm somewhat pathetic, aren't I?).   Anyway, as I like to read about new discoveries, I found this and thought you may be interested.  Hopefully someday soon lymphoma and all cancers will be curable or manageable for life.

Hi Cathy,

No, your not pathetic...just searching for information and answers like the rest of us. Its good to educate yourself so you can also advocate for yourself!

Thanks for sharing the article!

Hi Cathy

Thanks for this interesting article.  Searching for good news sounds like a brilliant use of time to me - definitely not pathetic in any way whatsoever!

Hope things improve for you soon.

Take care - Chickpea

Cathy....don't say you are pathetic because you are not.  We are all in the same boat and feel the same way!

Darling Cathy!

We treasure your wonderful posts with research information and your intellectual energy on all our behalf.

Remember that on this site, there are several of us who suffer depression from chronic illness and completely understand how you are feeling!  Billydude said it so well!

You are a blessing my dear friend.

Hi guys, thanks for all of your kind words.  I've been so depressed lately because of some non-SJS health problems that I do feel pathetic.  I have a bump on my tongue (checked by a very good ENT Dr., he said it's OK, but check monthly and follow-up in 4 months) and a bump (lymph node?) behind my left ear that I just discovered.  My dermatologist told me that I may have some "off-shoot" of a syndrome related to a mutation on a tumor suppressor gene.  I've been so depressed because I'm scared to death now that I can't avoid getting a tumor no matter how hard I try.  The derm. didn't make a big deal out of it, he said it's especially important to have regular colonoscopy screenings, but other than that, just get regular tests (annual physical, mammogram).  I hope I'm overreacting.  I have a fear of leaving my children (ages 13, 11, 4).  As some of you know, I lost my first husband when my daughters were 3 and a baby.  I'm not saying that for pity, just to perhaps justify (if that's even possible) my fear.  I realize though that it's a fear of many parents.  (I must add that I remarried an incredible man and I feel very lucky and blessed in that way!)  An antidepressant would probably be a good idea for me as my anxiety is sky high, but I hate how dry my mouth is already.  I keep trying to read encouraging scientific news to make myself feel better.  (On a positive note, I'm learning a lot and I'm constantly amazed at what is going on in the research area!   :))

Sorry to ramble on.  You are all very nice.  Thanks again.

Hi Janna,

You must have posted while I was writing my response, so I didn't read it until afterwards.  You are a blessing as well.

That goes for all of you.  Thanks for being there!

Cathy, No one blames you for feeling discouraged---that what chronic disease does to us. However, instead of worrying yourself silly it would be wise to get these lumps addressed promptly. Why can't you get a biopsy of the lump on your tongue and the lump by your ear. It is only logical to have these biopsied when one has sjogrens and the chance of other issues popping up.

Remember that being proactive in our medical care is what keeps us ahead of the game. Lymphoma is very treatable if that is what you are worrying about. However, if it was me I would not waste any more time and get them both biopsied. If your dentist won't send you to an oral surgeon then find yourself a new dentist and get that referral. Good luck and let us know how things work out. Irish ;D

you are not pathetic, aint any of use here can claim we aint been scared or still are, especially with  young children,a mother`s love is intense, and of course your going to go through a gambit of emotions , i know mines being 9 & 13 years old, and sinc ei was a single mum for so long, the need to be there for my kids is very important to me, as any parents is .

Anxiety isnt failure, id be anxious too, but speak to your GP and get some help with that, no point in suffering needlessly . id push for a biopsy just for peace of mind, that way you can settle yourself in your mind when it comes back clear, ok someone telling you all is well, but a biopsy result would give you the certainty you need.

Keep posting the link you find in your reasearch, as billy said were all in the same boat, and something that gives you hope, gives us all hope and thats not pathetic, its invaluable.
I know i few weeks ago depression and anxiety hit me and hard, i got help from my GP and my moods now alot better, and im glad i didnt suffer in silence.

Good luck honey and post any finds you have, you help everyone by doing so
