Wasn't quite sure where to put this so I figured this was as good a place as any.  Lately it seems like all I can sleep is about 6hrs then once I wake up I feel sick if I try to go back to sleep.  I still fatigued but yet I have this restless anxious energy where it's like I don't know what to do with myself.  I can't really seem to focus on doing one thing so I jump from one thing to the other.  My bf works a 2nd-3rd 12 hr shift at night so it's not like I can really bang stuff around and vacuum or anything like that so I try to be quiet and while he sleeps try to watch tv or do the dishes something that wont wake him up.

Does anyone else get this feeling ever.   It's like I'm kicked into overdrive if I could only focus.  I try to get on the computer or anything and can't even remember what I read my brain just doesn't seem to comprehend it.  Or I'll be in the middle of doing something on here and then I'll jump up and start doing something else.  Just wondering if its the Sjogrens or what it is.

Hi DWW  :)

Sleep disturbance can be an SjS trait. Many iof us don't sleep well. It's worth running this past your doc too though as things like an overactive thyroid can also produce the symptoms you're describing. I'm no medic but I think asking someone who is could be the way to go.

Take care - Scottie  :)

6 hours is most sleep i can get, thats saying i can sleep.

What i find with me is i have fibromyalgia, researching it i found that the restless anxious feeling same as yourself, feel exhausted yet jittery , i found that in fibro the noradrenaline levels are way down, so there is nothing to counterbaalnce the adrenalin , sometimes just as im falling over to sleep i get a jolt of jiteriness and from reading articles ive found that its a surge of adrenalin that causes it, over active fight or flight they said, dont know if you have fibro, but i know this is what causes it with me, though long before i was DX fibromyalgia i was an insommniac, always put it down to working ight duty and irregualr sleep pattern, now i know why

I would have a discussion with your doctor about taking an anxiety medicine.  Xanax is a generic medicine and sounds like it would help you. Anxiety would definitely cause trouble sleeping and stomach / nervousness.

Also ask the doctor about foods you have before retiring. I have a couple food items that I know if I eat them for supper/dinner I will have problems sleeping that night.

Good Luck!

DCC,

I soooooo understand.

I believe a lot of irregular things happen with AI issues.  And as Scottie always points out the thyroid issues which also is so common with AI.

Last year I felt that overdrive feeling frequently. I would come home from work exhausted, and lay down on the couch to relax. While I was trying to shut my body down, it felt like an engine running inside me. I sooo longed for that tired relaxed feeling to kick in. Even at bed time, it felt like a motor running inside, preventing my body from shutting down.

The Doc gave me the Xanax type medication and it did help, so much.

My thyroid in recent months check hypothyroid.
I believe last year when my body was running in over drive mode , that I might have been hyperthyroid.

I have been sleeping some what better and thyroid medication seems to have balanced me some.

Insomnia does seem to characterize SJS.

I hope you find resolve to your restlessness. I know when I was going thru what you are, I felt like it was going run me ragged or drive me crazy. The stress of restlessness has to up set our sjogren's issues.

I hope you present this to your DR  :)
