My Dr. mentioned a clinical trial she is involved in, looking at a new treatment for dry mouth with sjogren's.  I am not sure of the name of the drug being investigated but it is evidently in a mouthwash (swish and spit) form.  Placebo vs. the trial med.  Anyone here ever take part in a clinical trial?  Right now I use Evoxac 3 x a day with few side effects except that maybe I sweat a little more than usualy and sometimes I will drool (LOL  :P  ).  I am thinking about possibly participating, especially if the mouthrinse doesn't have as much systemic effect - I am not sure this is true or not as I didn't think to ask her when I was there yesterday.  Any thoughts or opinions????

I have not heard of this, but would be very interested in what you find out.  I take Evoxac 3 times a day and do have some side effects ,but it has given me back some quality of life.  The Evoxac has also helped my nasal passages.   Have you found this to be true?  I wonder if this new med would help nasal passages as well.

I have to agree with you about Evoxac helping the nasal passages, I had to go without any for 4 days and I thought I was going to die.  It even seems to help the eyes a little.  Fortunately, I have not had any side effects at all.

Know just what you mean.  Before starting on the Evoxac the back of my nasal passages felt like the Sahara desert and I would constantly squirt saline to hydrate.  Not to mention the nasal sores due to dryness.  If this mouthwash is not systemic, I wonder if you could take it along with the Evoxac.  I'm still pretty dry even with the Evoxac.  Gosh, who knew that a moisture producing medicine would be like the dream come true. :)  And, who knows if it will make to market.

Nancy, I don't think I would like to give up the 3 x day Exovac since it's helping you.  Especially helping with more than one thing!  I take Salagen very infrequently, but it doesn't help anything but give me more saliva for about an hour.  Perhaps if you could take the mouth wash in addition to the Exovac, you might consider.  Lucy
