Anyone ever put aloe on a sunburn?

Anyone here ever put aloe on a sunburn -- and had the worst itching sensation of your life?

I did that many years ago, and seriously it itched so bad I wanted to take a cheese grader and grade off the itching skin. I'm religious about applying sunscreen now. Non-tan skin is healthy skin anyway

I've often used aloe on burns, sun and otherwise, and even use it after any sun exposure with my sunblock in place when there's no burning, just for the moisturizing.

You may be allergic to the plant, which is part of the Liliaceae family that also includes onions and garlic...do you have any sensitivities to those?

Yes, I too made that mistake, it not only burned, but made my skin feel like it was shrinking.

I use aloe a lot, and when I put it on a sunburn, my skin tightens up, it's weird, but by the next day my sunburn is almost gone.  I don't mind the weird skin thing as long as I can get rid of the sunburn.

I bet I'm allergic. I'm allergic to lots of things.

That may be the problem then....I use aloe or products containing aloe and never had the itching you described. I hope you find something else to help your skin without the side effects.

Have you ever tried the Cetaphil products...they have soap, cremes, moisturizers, and lotions......they have no perfumes or dyes and were recommended to me by  my dermatologist as I have very sensitive skin and rosacea. Just a thought!
