Green tea and lymph node swelling

Hi everyone  ,

Yes I'm smiling at you because this time I have some good news.

I've been drinking green tea regularly for about 3 months now after I heard it contains something that's beneficial for Sjogren's... Last week however, I switched to a different flavor and the lymph node swelling I usually have in my groin area came back with a vengeance! In fact, it felt like a hard boiled egg underneath my skin.

So the wheels in my head started turning and churned out this conclusion: "Last week I haven't drunk any green tea!" Aah...

To take the theory to the test I have diligently drunk green tea at least 3x a day last week. The wheels turned once again today: "I haven't had any swelling the last few days. The tea must be working!"

Isn't it a miracle?

That's amazing! If it keeps the lumps and bumps away - keep drinking! 

Is your doctor aware that you get lumps in your groin if you don't drink green tea? I've only ever had lupms there when I had a virus and when I had an infection further down my leg.

I think I'll buy some green tea the next time I go to the supermarket though.

Hi Scottie,

Yes rheumy knows about swelling. Says it comes with the Sjogren's sometimes.
Node is still 'mobile'.... so according to him I don't have to worry.
About 5 years ago a specialist looked at it and thought it was okay too.

Wait a minute, I'm just going to have to brew a pot of green tea now ....

That is great news (sips green tea)!  I'm drinking green tea and trying a gluten free diet and I think I have some more moisture in my mouth.

Wouldn't it be great if this were the answer and we didn't have to rely on any pills?

Im on a candida diet, to get the trush out my gut, getting tested for food intolerance, and yup been drinking green tea instead of caffeine, and i feel alot better, glad its working for you

The brand I use is Lipton Green Tea (Indonesian tea sencha tradition).

I tried tried another one, the house brand of the supermarket, but don't like the taste.
However, can't tell if it is better/worse for the lymph node swelling.

I am also drinking green tea with hopes!! I am also trying the gluten free diet. My chiropractor told me that I was allergic and I have been following for about two weeks and have lost 12 pounds but that sure doesn't leave alot of choices.  Am also following the book eat right for your blood type which was recommended by the chiropractor.
Do you have any gluten free tips for me?

Anyone found a green tea that doesn't taste of green tea?? It makes my mouth feel like when the dentist has had that suction device in there, and my taste buds object!  I have tried it with jasmine but it didn't help....

Yes I know the feeling  .

I can't chuck it down unless I pop 2 artificial sweeteners in the mug.
Makes it almost delicious !

Regarding gluten free tips - if you live in the US, there is a brand of gluten free bread mix - Bob's Red Mill Wonderful Bread.  - It really is good!

Anyone found a green tea that doesn't taste of green tea??

I don't know---what kind are you drinking? I prefer loose tea---the stuff in the bags is very dry and is poor quality. The type I enjoy is Gun Powder Green Tea. The leaves are tightly rolled and look like little gray-green balls. A level teaspoonful make a whole pot of tea. The main things you need to know about green tea----don't use very much, and don't use boiling water to brew it. That brings out the astringent quality---makes your mouth pucker up. Just bring the water barely to simmer and pour it in a pot with the loose tea.

I love green tea, but it did take a few weeks to get used to it. Drink it plain and savor---and no Boiling Water, please.

Does this bread have to be made in a bread machine?  I bought a kind called Pam's and it has to be made in a bread machine and mine is broke.
Yes I live in Michigan and seen that kind but choose Pam's instead. I will go back and get the kind you mentioned.  Thanks Sherry

Hi Sherry:

No, I made it without the machine and was surprised by how well it rose.  Even my husband liked it (and I didn't tell him it was gluten free either).  It comes with a package of yeast.
I think it can be made in the bread machine, but I can't remember (darn brain fog).  If you try it, let me know if you like it too (if not, that's OK too - I don't work the company).
