Crying with Sjogrens?

When people with sjogrens cry, do they produce tears?

I can only answer for me, and when i cry;.I do have tears but they do not run down my face like a stream; most of the time the tears just well up in my eyes. Most of the times my hurt and feel sticky afterwards.

   Plunk, when I cry my eyes are very moist, but I only have tears dropping very occasionally, always very sparse.. I did read somewhere a long time ago that the tears from crying are from a different source of  the moisture we need to keep  our eyes healthy... Diden't believe it then, or now..   Any eye expert around?

I'm no eye expert, but even though I have a firm dx of Sjogren's, I have plenty of tear production and no problem with dry eyes.  I had a very few days of dry eyes before my dx but I guess the meds are keeping it at bay.  I find this confusing since so many Sjogren's patients on meds still seem to have the dry eyes/mouth problem and I don't.  Hmmmm

I do have tears, but with me, all the oil glands in my eye lids are all clogged up, and my eyes have become very sticky lately.  Guess it's time to see the eye doctor again.  Ugh.

I must be weird lol , i was DX with dry eyes 30 years ago, my eyes would roll around my  head, my mother thought it was habit, then the optician told her that was correct, nothing wrong with my eyes it was habit , doctor didnt know so sent me to opthamologist at 7 , and the mystery of the rolling eyes was solved, they were that dry that my eyes were involuntarily rolling about trying to creat moisture, drops helped, but i have always been able to cry and massive amounts of tears, then 5 minutes later its all evaporated off and 10 minutes afetr a good cry i could need drops again in them , theyre dry the eye sockets hurt on and off so always need my drops, yet can cry loads, weird lol

Wow, I'd not heard of the rolling eyes either, that is a bit unusual.  I'm glad that your mother found a doctor that knew what the problem was, that must have been frightening as a child.

Yep, I too have to add drops after a cry, my eyes will hurt so bad, so I try not to.  If you find out why this happens, please let us know as I'm sure that their others with the same problem.

I couldnt until I had the plugs put in..the sensation and want to was there..just nothing would come out.It was the best feeling when they welled up and spilled over...amazing.You dont realize until you cant do it how wonderful it truly feels.

  Yes, I have a few tears if I cry.   They burn my eyes and make them hurt afterward, so there is no longer such a thing as "a good cry" for me.

onluy wish i knew but if i ever found out id share

cant say it did frightne me as a child , i cant even say i was aware of it as much as ppl looking at me doing it were, was just glad to not be chastised for it and it stopped with drops, but ive lived with dry eyes and nose so long, i really cant remeber it being any different, so in a way im very lucky, what you never had you never miss, but then in DX its wasnt so goos as i never thought to complain  more about that long with other symptoms, as i didnt add 2 and 2 together , so i guess it not bothering me now its a good thing

My eye dryness isn't anywhere as bad as my dry mouth...however when i do cry which is rare
I wish i hadn't. Wow the swelling and dryness that follows is just painful. I have got to the
point of not watching those boohoo movies...when i was younger (this is how bad I am)
my family would watch little house...actually they would watch me watching it because they
knew i would start boohooing at some point...lol. I guess I'm too sensitive. The only upside
I have found is that with the swelling i loose some of my wrinkles!

I can cry buckets, then go right back to needing eye drops.  I have always wondered about that.

I think it's because my eye dryness is on and off while my dry mouth is pretty much constant.  I can go days at a time without needing eye drops, then all of a sudden, I feel like I need them every 15 minutes. 

I've been diagnosed for 7 years, and this "gift" as Pooh calls it is constantly giving me new surprises.  I'm glad I can cry when I need it because, for me, it's a great stress reliever.

Everyone is different.   I don't really have dry eyes at all.
